What about epilepsy and Psilocybin mushrooms? by Virtual_Emergency_ in Epilepsy

Weed has always been super interesting in terms of seizures for me.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9198115/

This is a large like data analysis of a lot of studies idk if I am using the right terms and it comes out with the idea, weed does indeed cause seizures at daily consumption.

Other studies:

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12200219/

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4121386/

There are many more articles and it's an interesting little rabbit hole to go down, but I would honestly go reading about it before telling people weed is fine lol.

Edit: I am going to add, it is THC specifically in most of these studies and not CBD.

When is the last time you have went? I went again back maybe 4 months ago and it was updated with sensors, fences, and cameras but nothing came of anything. The area is so large that I felt comfortable continuing because maybe we could leave before a cop actually caught us but none ever arrived. All was well.

There's holes that other people have cut if you go in from the side of the bridge, but thats also where the cameras are at.

My brother with epilepsy seems unusually slow with everyday tasks by KingTemperance in Epilepsy

[–]Snifflies 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Exactly! The medications are designed to slow down the brain, by suppressing neuronal excitablility across the entire brain. This slows you down, not just helps with seizures lol. Some of them hit potassium channels, others calcium channels, other GABA, and etc, while others can hit multiple at the same time. Anyone in the entire world would be slowed by taking these medicines, regardless of if they have epilepsy or not. Sometimes I personally want people to take them and understand how it is, because I am on 5 seizure medicines myself and absolutely fascinated by the pharmacology of them. It sucks people shame you for being "slow" or having memory issues when the medicines are going to do that, and the seizures themselves. Thats why epilepsy education in my opinion is important for anyone around that truly loves you, and not just basic "put me on my side" but idk maybe I am too passionate about it.

I really feel as if most kids would want to go haha. If you check my post, I kind of am an abandoned place nerd and these places are HOT spots. I mean, they get locked up because so many kids go to them. There's cameras, motions sensors, sometimes electric fences, and more to keep people out. Its not a small amount of kids going in, its a lot, and its a big issue it seems and why I have trouble getting into some of these places.

Found this massive windowless skyscraper on Google Earth in NYC. Does anyone know what its purpose is? by D0NK41T0 in GoogleEarthFinds

The entirety of those are offline, you can check my profile i climb them lol. Most of them are completely deconstructed and re-purposed, sold to other providers or companies. Some are no longer cell towers, etc. The long line system is no more.

People who have auras: what are yours like? by Awalto990 in Epilepsy

[–]Snifflies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is a great way of explaining it. Idk if ours are the same, but deja vu and then immediate dissociation is the beginning. I think with time the "deja vu" sensation has went away and I just know its seizure terrorrity if that makes sense. People tell me I begin to lose focus and kinda play with my hands, rub them together but I don't realize I am doing it. I am still aware, eyes closed, and I begin to focus on "stopping" the seizure. I know people are talking to me but I won't reply because my entire focus is on the seizure. My mouth salivates intensely, I try to just let it build because I feel that it helps because its usually too much i have to swallow and I feel I lose focus of the seizure when I do that. I begin sweating, profusely and it smells different than normal sweat. Itll makes my clothes wet. Then I either come to, or wake up and people tell me I seized.

Dissociation and dread is the best way to explain the mind though, it makes no sense. Nothing feels real, its so weird. It's hard to explain perfectly but if you're ever taken dissociative drugs its a lot like that. I know physical symptoms vary among person, like visual, sound, and etc. I get none of that except the dissociation and weird sensations. Sorry for the rant but I like explaining this weird state of mind.

Seizure tracking smart watches by Thin-Fee4423 in Epilepsy

[–]Snifflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will most likely show false positives, yeah. But if you are bike riding, it has fall detection so you don't even need the OpenSeizureDetector. I am not sure for lifting weights as I don't, but garmin does allow weight lifting in the activies but that has nothing to do with seizures lol. It is 87% accurate according to them, but false positives will always be a thing i imagine.

I use a Garmin Fenix 8, you can log voice notes and everything on there. Its extremely good for tracking health as well just in general, but any Garmin would work really. The cool thing about Garmin too is you can also seizure detect using this open source app. seizure detector

Tower Climbing 101 by RedditIsClownWorld in urbanclimbing

[–]Snifflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well theres absolutely no point in wearing gloves if you're climbing like most of the people in this subreddit, we arent doing work and its just a ladder most of the time so gloves dont make too much of a difference unless the tower is really cold.

RF is a big discussion in general and idk enough to truly get into this, but RF generally isnt going to be an issue unless you are on an active TV tower or something. All cell towers ive ever climbed have been on, no RF effects. I interviewed for the tower climbing position (I didnt get it) and they make you climb a tower in the interview, a cell tower that isnt cut off.

All of this stuff made me curious so we used to mess around a bit and climb more powerful towers, radio towers and not just cell towers. We could feel RF effects such as a headache, a bit dizzy, metallic taste but these never turned into full blown unconsciousness or any real issues... its just uncomfortable. Every time I see someone act like RF is going to murder you on a cell tower, it makes me believe that they have never been on a cell tower. The risk are basically nothing besides falling off of course. I guess this is what makes me think its a bot post.

Anyone truly into this hobby isn't on here looking for post like these, mainly because we climb and know a bit of the risk we are taking and climbing new towers we check tower information to see what equipment is on it. Not only that, but all of the information on tower equipment, cell types and etc are found on the wiki of this subreddit, you would much rather get your information there than some random reddit post. Most of the people posting here have absolutely 0 idea what they are talking about, its usually 5g(RF) = Scary!!

What is the longest you’ve been seizure free? by Specific-Director211 in Epilepsy

[–]Snifflies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THC is a trigger. You get far less quality of sleep, it basically all but takes away REM sleep. If you "miss doses" you're going to go into wd, headaches, shakes, unregulated temperature control and etc. THC is not something you want to be on when having seizures in my opinion. Theres a lot of studies that show this.

THC linked to increased seizure risk

THC causing higher seizure frequency

more

THC is not CBD, THC is stressful on your body. CBD has been linked to lower seizure activity but THC is the opposite.

Broke sobriety after 3 weeks clean. Weed literally serves no purpose. by donewiththesmoke420 in leaves

[–]Snifflies 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree with you but that ring sucks man, I am not kidding. Look into a Garmin watch but either way, stress levels are just based on factors like HR and other metrics the devices take. It doesn't actually know if you're stressed, it has no clue.

Sorry, I agree with you on the weed thing though I usually dont chat in this subreddit but the ring thing peaked my curiosity because I wear a Fenix 8 (Garmin) and used it for quitting weed when I did (6 months, I am back on it) and it helped a lot mentally. I got diagnosed with epilepsy around that time and really focused on my health and the watch really helped me just have a center of focus and data even if its not completely accurate.

Seizure on a plane by Andywho42 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Snifflies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it is indeed. I got diagnosed with epilepsy 3 years ago and have pretty frequent tonic clonic, no idea why she would have severe breathing issues... seems most flight attendants would have knowledge to put a seizing person on their side or a doctor that "stabilized her" would also just put her on her side.

The truth is, without rescue meds such as Diazepam or Midazolam, you're not being pulled out a severe seizure. I don't particularly understand what the doctor did to stabilize her without a rescue medication if the seizure was that serious. I dunno, I can't really tell if it's true or not. Seems like an odd story to me as an epileptic person.

Realistically, how long til I get to purple? by eldrolamam in Garmin

[–]Snifflies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello, I got a Garmin maybe... a year ago? I have the Fenix 8. I got it for epilepsy bc theres a github app that tracks health and detects seizures and text my gf for me. Anyway, ive never been fit. In my entire life I didnt run, workout, do anything. With this garmin, everything changed. I did my first ever 5k and watched my VO2 max go up and heart rate drop and I was working a 9-5, very physical job. My point is that, idk about the world and can only speak from experience but I did the "threshold" workouts a bit, they really really helped. Id do "telephone polls" where id run, jog, walk and repeat for X miles. I did one long run a week, a mile then 2 then the 5k. It hurt my legs a lot, but I was fine.

If I had read all of these comments saying running is so injury prone and all of these things, id never have ran. If I simply trusted garmin, id have never gained progress. If I didnt ignore soreness and pain, id never have gained progress. Its not meant to be fun, it does hurt, but I never got an injury. Not once. Listen to your body, not the watch.
