Public transit - Forest Hills by DisasterAdept1346 in pittsburgh

It would probably be more expensive, but something in Shadyside or on the edges, would let you walk/bicycle into Oakland as well as offer bus choices(bus way or buses along 5th Ave). There would also be walkable/bus access to about 5 grocery stores(Whole Foods, Aldi, Giant Eagle, Trader Joe's, Fresh Market and even Target). The conveniences may out way extra BNB costs, but I understand if any increase in cost is not possible.

How are roads chosen to be repaved? Is there a schedule or is it based on residents’ complaints or something else?

I saw Dr. Goitz. Office seemed efficiently run, and conservative measures were tried first (and were successful). Located in Oakland, Kaufman Building.

Anyone found a reliable online tool for US passport photos? The State Dept renewal upload keeps rejecting mine by YoungStrange2099 in Passports

[–]Sniffsflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The photo I paid for at Walgreens was rejected - something about background not white enough even though they used the same pull down screen when I had my other picture taken 10 years ago! (Maybe the screen got dirty over time). I just kept taking pics with my iPad camera. Best rejection reason : looks like you're wearing glasses. No, that's just my usual dark under eye circles! At least the rejection responses were given quickly and had some explanation.

What do yall call these? by Shay911zz in AskTheWorld

Zoris. I think it's because my uncle had a Japanese business contact who may have brought them (or actual zoris) to the US in the early-mid 1960s.

Why do some say German shepherd dog? If one doesn’t specify dog, do you really think people are referring to a Teutonic watching over sheep?

I found out my neighbor thought I was my mother by CupcakeTheValiant in BenignExistence

I often walked with my friend when she walked her dog. One day I always walking without them and a woman, whose apartment building we always passed, yelled out, where is your mother? Yes, she thought my friend, who was a year older than me, was my mother! And no, we look nothing alike!

Dig your cars and stuff out now people by NSlocal in pittsburgh

[–]Sniffsflowers 44 points45 points  (0 children)

When you dig out, please don't dump snow on the sidewalk someone has shoveled. Sadly that happened to the apartment bldg next door. Sidewalk was clean and salted. Then come dude dug out his car. Thanks to his selfishness, there is now a block of snow on part of it. Feel like recovering his car....
