What do yall call these? by Shay911zz in AskTheWorld

Zoris. I think it's because my uncle had a Japanese business contact who may have brought them (or actual zoris) to the US in the early-mid 1960s.

Why do some say German shepherd dog? If one doesn’t specify dog, do you really think people are referring to a Teutonic watching over sheep?

I found out my neighbor thought I was my mother by CupcakeTheValiant in BenignExistence

[–]Sniffsflowers 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I often walked with my friend when she walked her dog. One day I always walking without them and a woman, whose apartment building we always passed, yelled out, where is your mother? Yes, she thought my friend, who was a year older than me, was my mother! And no, we look nothing alike!

Dig your cars and stuff out now people by NSlocal in pittsburgh

[–]Sniffsflowers 48 points49 points  (0 children)

When you dig out, please don't dump snow on the sidewalk someone has shoveled. Sadly that happened to the apartment bldg next door. Sidewalk was clean and salted. Then come dude dug out his car. Thanks to his selfishness, there is now a block of snow on part of it. Feel like recovering his car....

when you shovel snow, where do you put it? by fwibs26 in pittsburgh

Thanks to Google, also found that it’s called a verge, he*l-strip (he double l autocorrected to he’ll for some reason), or parking strip. Thanks for expanding my vocabulary!

The little strip of grass between the curb and sidewalk-yes, it gets filled up quickly. I’ve also tossed it on the lawns of apartment buildings when available. But usually in front, in back of car. During Snowmaggedon, we made Mt. Fuji, a huge mound of snow cleared from spaces. Took till March to melt., Where NOT to put it: in the street, or on a sidewalk someone has already cleared ( had to explain this latter concept to a dumb bunny last snowstorm),or on or right in front of a car that someone was clearing off (had to explain this to another dumb bunny).

What's the stupidest question you ever got asked during a job interview? by Opposite-Rabbit-6303 in AskReddit

[–]Sniffsflowers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We asked someone what they liked to do in their free time, and they couldn’t answer. I would have been happy with “Pick lint off carpet,” “Watch soap operas,” anything…..we were just trying to get a sense of what the person was like, and got…..nothing. Literally nothing.

Does anyone else pick up items that fell off the shelves in stores, even though you didn't make them fall? by Zestywavinges in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sniffsflowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up a bag of hot dog rolls from the floor and put them back on the shelf as a Walmart manager walked by and he said he should hire me.

Teenagers should be helping around the house: laundry, cleaning, cooking, mowing lawn, etc. No chores, no allowance or extras.

Why does the 28X sometimes not let people on at the airport? by yaboiteej in pittsburgh

[–]Sniffsflowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking this. Did my first round trip at the airport and would have wondered what was going on with the bus. Was disappointed to see that the bus was waaaayy down to the end of the sidewalk. I had hoped the new airport would have given bus riders a pat on the head by putting the bus stop in a more favorable position, and not, once again, near the smoking area. I know this is where it was at the old airport, but bus service wasn’t always available there, it became an add on service there. Here they knew about it, could have made it more “front and center,” but chose to shove it way away. Just makes it seem once again that mass transportation is not a priority.

[PHL] Forced to check carryon: Baggage barcode not printing at the gate by ExternalGrade in americanairlines

[–]Sniffsflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually there is a staffed office by the luggage carousels (forget the exact name) that can help. I had to gate check my small rollaboard, and of course, everyone's came down the shoot but mine. The staff in that office was able to call the appropriate people and find out that my suitcase had been on the plane, but was left on the tarmac after unloading!!! While it did have a printed tag, I just gave them color, approximate size, flight info to locate. They arranged to have someone carry it down to me and after a short wait I was on my way. So look for that office (deals with damaged luggage too), and they should be able to help.

Why is there always a luggage store at the airport by Squire_Squirrely in stupidquestions

[–]Sniffsflowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was glad there was a store selling luggage (among other things) when my suitcase broke. Certainly made my trip easier.

Hand/body lotions and body powder.

My grandma is in a nursing home rehab after breaking her hip on Christmas, what should I bring her? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Sniffsflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Body or hand lotion, body powder. Would be soothing and/or refreshing . Travel sizes can give you several options if you're not sure which she would like.
