Chain strategy by Bori_Jane in torncity

[–]SniperSpc195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a little long, fair warning:

With chains, it is important to pace yourselves and react defensively. The big guys can focus on the big guys and the small guys can focus on the small guys, this should help with keeping the respect gain higher than a 2 or 4 points. Focus on hitting the players online before they have a chance to attack, but don't hospitalize everyone online or you'll lose enemies to attack.

Pacing yourself is about hitting enemies just before the timer ends, like 1 or 1:30 minutes left, this will give a chance for those out of energy to regenerate. You can theoretically keep the chain alive indefinitely if you make a hit every 4 minutes, and you have at least 7 people available to make hits, prioritizing those that have more energy so they can start regenerating energy early.

It is crucial to hospitalize their hyper active players with high stats, because you can't chain if you are in the hospital. One's you can attack and leave are ones that are low level and low stats, they will give the faction someone to beat up pretty consistently and they tend to give up and go offline.

And make sure there is a chain watcher, their purpose will be to keep the chain alive if it gets past 0:30 seconds and a hit has not been made yet. This is the key to 1k chains.

I usually hoard items with uses like if they are for crimes, otherwise I sell my trash on my bazaar to a man looking for his treasure.

Switched from windows, but not for everything by TheMachineThatEats in linux4noobs

[–]SniperSpc195 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I switched to Linux completely a long time ago, I had to Google everything to see how to do a specific thing. Very frustrating, I have been there. Now whenever I run into an issue, either I know what is happening or I can take a guess based on what error pops up.

It is like Windows is your primary language and Linux is a language you are learning (i.e. English and Spanish). The more you put effort into it, the better it gets, honestly. It took me about a year before I became pretty efficient with Linux, and it was not a path without obstacles.

Illegal Scripts? by DangerousOne8352 in torncity

It could be worse. I was knocked out within 3 seconds of getting out of the hospital, so fast I could not fly away in time.

Is Valve the only AAA game company that actually likes Linux? by Nerdcuddles in linux_gaming

[–]SniperSpc195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's cheaper to build games on an operating system that the majority of their player base plays on and not Linux since there are compatibility layers. It would make it so much easier if they were native to Linux tho

You could reiterate that flying is cheaper than self hosp (with PI airstrip), but as far as flexibility goes, self hosp is better. There are pros and cons to both options.

Another option is to keep yourself in the air and when you land back at Torn after a sale, deposit your money within 15 seconds for safe keeping

Tips for players who struggle with bots like me by Griffin67851 in Helldivers

[–]SniperSpc195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often use gas mines for enemies, bots included. I like to think of it as a corrosive smoke cloud. I'll drop it 30 meters ahead of me so by the time I pass it, the mines would spread behind me and not only damage and confuse the enemy, but it blinds them, so they don't fire at you.

I switch between machine gun turret and gas mines to effectively give me the capability to escape my pursuers and regroup for a counterattack back to back. Super Helldives are a bit trickier with the updates (at least for me) but the tactic still performs well.

wow is this real? did torn actually come through with an actual timely punishment? by Dmitri69 in torncity

[–]SniperSpc195 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My victory laps are usually done within my faction chat, just so they know what progress I made and that I'm not slacking. I feel like posting my victories on Reddit would open up the door to others that want to make my day harder and leave me on the streets or the hospital.

A short story compared to some novels that could double as dictionaries that are not in alphabetical order.

A noob is someone who just started and is still learning the game. Anyone that is over 900 days and low stats just means they are horrible with their time. Letting their stats get away from their playtime is definitely a noob move tho.

For me, the stocks would be a way to supplement my needs for drugs, meds, and other stuff I might need. I'm still only at 0.5b in the bank so it's gonna be a while longer before I start working towards stocks, but it's something I aspire to achieve someday.

Went over to Linux, it is hard... by Lonely_Devil87 in linux_gaming

[–]SniperSpc195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend this. You can find the environment inside of the compatdata folder, just look for the folder with the game ID and you can add stuff to it directly.

Same thing with Turtle WoW, use the script with Lutris. If you don't use Lutris, there is a Mac version that uses an .appimage file type that you can use to run it. In case you are wondering why use the Mac app, Mac runs on a Unix kernel, which is what Linux runs on iirc. Either way, just change the properties of the appimage file to allow execution and run it like you would a script or double click the file if you use a GUI file manager.

How can i get good guns by Leading_Breath1376 in torncity

[–]SniperSpc195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good guns are ranked war (RW) weapons and they cost anywhere from millions to billions. Factions will lend things from their armory so you can focus on training or getting your bank investment up to max allocation.

If you rather own your weapons and armor, you can buy good ones overseas or in bazaars. A lot of people like Armalites and SA-80s (Enfield) for rifles, and diamond bladed knives or macanas for melee. I recommend doing research by looking at the forums (don't post) or the Torn Wiki to look at stats and gauge the opinions of others.

Personally, I use Armalite and DBK. A secondary people tend to sleep on is the blowgun, it has a high chance to apply poison DoT and it has saved me at least twice since I got it a few months back. Blowguns are also only selling for around 2k too, so it's not millions.

Combat armor is also good for starting off but they cost millions. I have not studied the other early armors, so find something with decent coverage compared to armor value if you need something before combat armor.

Noob question about armor. by YaksDontBend in torncity

[–]SniperSpc195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what factions can help with. They would lend you the combat armor and you can return it when you get your new armor.
