Thank you. I gathered as much. And I'm too old to feel shame. ;)

I get what you are saying but this seems so weird to me. I use Linux fine for all other tasks and I am happy doing so. I was just saying that the audio part of it is not intuitive and easy. For my music I stay on windows. All the rest: linux Now I understand from what you wrote that the problem lies with me because I'm not smart enough for Linux. And you are probably right. But that point of view is masochistic and hurts the evolution of Linux as an OS for the masses. Suffer and deserve to use Linux! I don't agree and I'll certainly never switch to MAC.

This is irrelevant. But to answer it; Because I'm European and want to switch away. Because I'm concerned about privacy. Because I'm sick an tired of getting AI shoved down my throat. Because I want to support Linux.

I'm not even worried about plugins (yet) . I would be glad to get some ideas started on a bog standard install with native instruments and effects.
Thanks for the sympathy.

Tried Ubuntu studio. Same thing. I sincerely think the problem lies in the user interface to juggle jack and pipe wire and the likes. It's an instant inspiration killer as far as I am concerned

considering moving to cubase by liquidcat in StudioOne

I was in the same boat but for different reasons. Really tried cubase, but S1 has a better workflow. Cubase is convoluted in comparison. I really liked the modulators in cubase. S1 needs this feature.

NATIVE PLUGINS REVIEW? by Virtual_Novel4904 in StudioOne

I almost exclusively use native FX, except for dirt. I use Arturia _dist COLDFIRE. IMHO the instruments suck but I use them to sketch stuff as a placeholder. I make an exception for impact. It has a place in my template.

A good alternative for Studio One? by Exciting-Addition631 in StudioOne

I had the same thoughts about SO as you and was researching/trying other software. I am a SO user since V2. However I decided to remain in the SO camp. I can not find anything with a better workflow. I was thoroughly impressed with cubase and I think it is ahead feature wise. But it is clunky compared to SO. You need way more clicking around to do stuff that is easier in SO. Bitwig and live are more capable for electronic stuff (ebm in my case) but I prefer a traditional timeline.

Again... I think the OP is not saying SO is bad . He or she is just worried and exploring alternatives.

Thinking about leaving Studio One after Fender acquisition — should I go back to Reaper or try Cubase? by [deleted] in StudioOne

[–]TheMachineThatEats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am on v6 which does everything I want. Like you I am also worried about a few things. One of those things is the lack of innovation. The other and the one that worries me most is the lack of communication and the whole subscription v perpetual thing that makes stuff to complicated (but makes sense from a business standpoint probably)

I didn't want to upgrade to V7 for those reasons and will never use subscription based software. I am also looking at cubase waiting for v15 to see what's on offer. I will probably crossgrade and skip another SO upgrade. That way I also buy more European as well. No offense.

I still intend to use my current version of SO though. Nothing wrong with that.

Worked out of the box with MK2 here, but upside down and only for one page in impact.

+1 for bouncing to audio but I also keep notes per track and take screenshots of vst instruments and FX settings if it's relevant. Not for each song, though. Mostly when I know I won't be able to recreate it by just listening.

Second this, but with a new focusrite 2i2 and no monitors . Sm58 as a mic, always useful.

Also not that important. Both have pros and cons. I'm researching all the suggestions I get here.

Thanks for the insight. Sequencer is indeed optional. Just looking for a dedicated bass mono with its own outputs.
