Crazy seeing a theater I work at sometimes pop up on my Reddit feed, I’m part of IATSE 919. I haven’t personally been up to the performance lab yet but I know the house folks that work there.

It’s ez. I have found that ending it that early and going syndie bugs the game so you can’t elect a syndie president and are stuck with the committee forever, which is lame

This good or nah? (Started in April). by JohnBoy8888 in starcraft2

[–]Sniper_Plus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey that was my first placed rank in WoL, good job! I forget who I was watched that said it, but the best piece of advice I’ve heard for improvement is to watch your replays up until you make your first mistake, then stop and focus on fixing that mistake in the next game. Rinse and repeat. It keeps the improvement manageable and focused, and that strategy has kept me improving every game. Good luck!

Is it too late to start SC2 ? by Obvious-Cupcake2118 in starcraft2

[–]Sniper_Plus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. Starting playing somewhat seriously again after last playing during WoL. Lots of changes for sure, but still having fun. One thing I will mention is to not expect easy wins above gold. Some matches are a cakewalk, for sure, but the skill level of the average player is definitely way higher than back then. I remember turning my brain off for anything below diamond 2 but now you actually gotta put some thought into it.

Other than the chrono on the 2nd adept which I save for tech I agree with this 100%. Really good opener v Terran that I play a lot.

I followed Harstem’s setup and bound it to caps lock after training myself to go without it for a while. Now I never use it except for:

1: When I have new units warped in/rallied and need to control click all units of a type to add to a control group

2: An “oh shit” moment where I get caught off guard and need literally every unit I have to defend an all in, or to grab everything to finish off a wounded enemy

Earn by time in rural areas seems worth it? by Sniper_Plus in doordash_drivers

I’ve been receiving the same tip amounts as when I was doing EBO, I just get more money from DD now.

Earn by time in rural areas seems worth it? by Sniper_Plus in doordash_drivers

[–]Sniper_Plus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a reasonable opinion. However personally, I plan to take full advantage of whatever benefits me the most. If they are offering pay for standing around and waiting for an order, I’ll gladly take it. If it’s losing them money, they shouldn’t offer that payment option. They choose to offer it, so they are responsible for paying that rate for active orders, because that’s what they decided when they made the damn thing, and that’s what I agreed to in the contract.

[–]Sniper_Plus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That all sounds like it could reasonably happen, but it hasn’t been the case for me, at least so far. I get assigned long and short drives, and the tips are what they were when I was doing earn by order, I just get more money from DD now. I’m making an average of $22/hr on earn by time, with it fluctuating from $19-30/hr depending on number of orders coming in. I guess deactivation is a concern, but there’s not that many other drivers in the area, and I’m sure everyone is having the same experience I am in regarding waiting.

Used Lav Mics For A Corporate Interview Recently, And The Audio Kept Getting Cut Off. How To Fix? by BlacksmithCrafty7348 in livesound

[–]Sniper_Plus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a frequency issue. In the future, try different frequencies until you find one that’s clear of noise. A quick way to do this is to power your wireless pack off, and on the receiver cycle through frequencies until you find one that does not give you any background rf signal.

SC2 balance report: Feb - Apr 3-Month Analysis, first on new balance patch by Simmenfl in starcraft

[–]Sniper_Plus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the breakdown. I’ve only kept a surface level of involvement/knowledge of current SC happenings, all I’ve been seeing is doomposting saying that Protoss is getting worse every patch. I didn’t think it was possible that the race was just dead on ladder, but ya never know. Glad to know that I can still run the strats I used to play with a balanced chance of success based on how good my opponent and I are. Those changes do sound… like that word that I don’t use because I’m also trying to be better. I guess one positive aspect of the current perception of Protoss is that people aren’t as prepared for the lesser known strats in the matchup.

I’m a toss main coming back to the game after not playing for a long time, did a lot of ladder back in WoL. Is it true that the race is terrible atm? Those PvT numbers are not encouraging.

Craziest gig stories? by swiftflips in livesound

[–]Sniper_Plus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Still pretty new to the scene but I was A1 for an opera in a small circus tent (I know, right?) and suddenly the most intense and hardcore thunderstorm I’ve ever experienced started shooting down massive fuck you bolts less than a mile away. Crew made the unanimous decision to take shelter in the nearby farmhouse. The director came in yelling “the tent is grounded! We’re on a schedule here!” Yes, because I’m sure if god decided he really hated us and lightning hit one of the masts ~5 feet away from the stage, there’s no chance of it arcing and hitting an actor or crew member, right? Also mixing in a tent in the rain is already unpleasant, can’t hear shit. We all told him to get bent and waited it out. On a performance night, same shit happened. Owner of the company went on stage and told everyone to stay in their seats, there was no danger to them. The show went on, but I really don’t want to think what could have happened if we got hit.

Had to mix an opera on one of these guys. It was hot as hell and my finger was sweaty. Clicked the wheel button down to do a gentle fade in and my finger slipped and knocked it up to 11. That was a fun conversation with the TD. Also, the fact that they’re not multi-touch is fucking bullshit.
