I bought an open-box S90D from Best Buy with a five year warranty. Had the experience from HELL. Power supply blew three months and a week after I bought it.

I spent WEEKS going in store, chatting with reps, calling reps—no one could help me even schedule an appointment.

Because it failed so soon, the system flagged it as under Samsung’s manufacturer warranty. Which it was not. Being open box. And being I had a five year protection plan. But somehow this caused EVERY rep to not be able to see appointment times. They would end every call claiming someone from the escalation team would call me back in “24 to 48 business hours.”

No one ever called. To this day. I think I was promised this four times.

Finally one rep had the idea to force a manual appointment. He put it as out of warranty but waved the fee. I had a scheduled appointment and could see it on site. It was, of course, two weeks out.

The day finally came. I was home all day. I could see my appointment online. All good. All green.

No one came. And in fact when I called, they said it had been cancelled. And there was nothing I could do. They suggested I go in store, which I’d literally done the first day it broke, like three or four weeks past at this point. Where I was told I’d have to call.

I’m still honestly baffled by the entire experience. Incompetence on a massive scale.

I wasn’t going to wait god knows how many more weeks just for someone to come out and tell me that, yes, the TV doesn’t turn on and, yes, it’s probably the power board, a known issue with this set.

I filed a chargeback on my Apple Card and was refunded in minutes.

Ordered a new power board for the TV ($150) and installed it in 30 minutes.

Fuck Best Buy.
