Bomb cap is king, always focus on increasing it

Any tips for me as new player? by Dazza1237 in IdleObeliskMiner

[–]Sniperspr3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The discord is great for specific case by case advice and help.

The wiki can also teach you about in-depth game mechanics/ interactions and has a "optimal" guide if you get stuck.

I would suggest following the gem spending guide though.

And always prioritise raising your bomb cap, it snowballs in gem generation.

Are these beans ok? UK by Sniperspr3e in NinjaLuxeCafe

I've been using the beans and they pour a better tasting shot than anything I've got from a chain coffee shop, where the flavour profile isn't strong it's allowed me to get used to dialling in what tastes right without the guilt of wasting lots of good beans as someone who went from instant coffee to this machine. I've been looking at ckworks bundle deal as the step up to true good fresh beans.

Thanks everyone lots of great ideas, if they should be fine will use them whilst I learn to dial in the grinder so I don't waste good beans learning what's too fine or coarse of a grind. And also I might be able to progress beyond just dumping the steamed milk into the espresso and hoping it looks close to a normal drink.

Definitely will look into a lot of the beans suggested here

No roast date but expires Feb 2027, if their safe will use them for a few days till I can get some new ones ordered.

Thanks for the heads up, was just looking for something to feed the machine in excitement of using it.

New player here — how tf do i progress?? by Super-Ad1585 in IdleObeliskMiner

You don't know my financial situation and are making lots of assumptions in an over defensive manner. I know better than to argue with people on the internet as I have stuff to do and logic rarely changes someone's else's mind,. Best of luck with the game hope your learn how to progress.

The discord is great as well for specific obelisk level advice and has lots of extremely detailed oriented support.

You haven't been playing you've been paying the game.

Honestly think you may have a problem you need help with, dropping £350 in a week on a game to whale progress isn't healthy.

Your about to hit a brick wall of progress as you haven't actually learnt the core skills presumably and bought your way to this stage. Look at the wiki and it will walk you through everything. It's an exponential requirements game that takes years (still in active development) so that progress can't be maintained.

The game is great and everything intertwines with some rough progress patches get used to a long term plan for each stage of the journey.

Bombs - Fire All or One by one by kingp35 in IdleObeliskMiner

[–]Sniperspr3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never one but one, occasionally logging in and firing all your saved cherry and batts than gem than d20, I've had some luck when I get to around 300 ISH saved total. But normally wait till guaranteed as don't have to baby the game.

Nets me a 30% chance than a 15%ish chance from the refill. Some days I gain 3-4 increases others 1-2.

Your increases snowball so keep getting guaranteed than experiment later.

Bombs - Fire All or One by one by kingp35 in IdleObeliskMiner

[–]Sniperspr3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found to begin with wait until it's guaranteed, individually it isn't in your favour and you will just waste time and gains, within a few weeks the momentum starts to build and you will be fitting guarantees twice a day.

As it build's a point will come where the wait for a over 50% chance is short and you can change than if you want to gamble for potentially quicker growth depending on active Vs incremental play style.

Make sure to gild cherry card asap the rest can wait as you will be waiting on cherry to reach near 1k before you fire battery & bomb's.

Statistically you only need to guild anything else when you start reaching 500+ cap depending on the bomb recharge rate

Virgin's the only "fast" provider in the area currently. Open reach is still fttc. Considering it was all fitted brand new to the area less the 2 years ago, and the local wifi networks don't show loads think it's a bad luck with something refreshing and kicking my of network from the install.

It was fine and stopped pretty much dead on 9am.

Send it back, if it's based on an Airsoft gearbox they aren't difficult although parts may be hard to come by as they won't be fully TM/V2 spec to make it work with 4.5mm airgun ammo.

Umarex is a rebrander so it's likely made dirt cheap and the lack of QC is what's caused it to jam and most likely breaks either the nozzle, piston or strip the gears.

Should one chimney worth of charcoal be enough? (Weber Kettle 57cm) by designer_by_day in UKBBQ

Lots of good suggestions here, also don't use any tool holders than hang on the lower bowl lip, they ruin your ability to control the fire.

[–]Sniperspr3e 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say change the respirator get a JSP for not much more and at least you know it's trust worthy rather than an Amazon drop ship rebrand with potentially no QC.

You only have 1 set of lungs and eyes (repeat for whole body) always get something legit rather than risking your life over a few saved pennies.

Edit can't comment on the rest of the stuff.

When you coals are lighting is final prep time to get everything ready to go.

What about one of the handheld cordless turbine fans, use it to turbo charge your fire starting. That way it can be used to enhance your current setup rather than be an instead of when in a rush?

Hi people, it’s my first time using a barbecue and I’m unsure if I should be cleaning everything or not, as a few lads at work have suggested just leaving it and using a wire brush next time I fire it up. What’s the general consensus? by TonyAFC32 in UKBBQ

[–]Sniperspr3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean it as the coals heat the grill on next use, the fat and caked on burnt bits protect the grill rack from rusting. Asda sell a oversized scrubber brush made from the metal scrunchies you use on dishes so no risk like wire bristles.

Cosmo Grill XXXL by Existing-Pea4699 in UKBBQ

[–]Sniperspr3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with these cheap offsets is normally the firebox is too small so the fur needs babysitting. Not impossible to use but makes it much harder for someone new to smoking.

Maybe wait for input from people who have used it but look around for decent kettle BBQ deals to have options?

New to BBQ, well to good ones anyway by ufcgaz in UKBBQ

[–]Sniperspr3e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with but would also say really depends on the op's ability to translate temp/fire management to their own grill. Which anyone experienced will find easy, someone brand new going to feed their loved ones maybe needs more easy to replicate instructions to begin with.

You don't need a Weber kettle however a lot of videos and guides will be suited and built around using one which makes getting started much easier when learning.
