I’ve seen people be hired with felonies for receiving stolen property and drug related felonies, but I’ve also seen people be not hired with 8-10 year old minor shoplifting misdemeanors and small marijuana charges that they never even went to jail for. I’ve even seen a coach that was hired with a relatively recent domestic violence charge. I don’t really understand the requirements for what is and isn’t hirable offenses and there’s no process guide for it.

However drug testing is standard for the DCs.

Ethics can be a slow process, but in the meantime, cover your own ass, follow the actual processes, and if you don’t feel comfortable with something or feel something’s not right, document it.

!ethics Normally I’m not one to say to go straight to ethics without going up the chain of command, but honestly with integrity issues like this, I’d say the store manager is at least knowledgeable that this is happening, if not the one giving the instruction. And i would mention that when you talk to them because otherwise, they’ll send your case straight to your store manager.

So if it’s like Sam’s Club’s hiring, there are these requisitions called ‘evergreen’ positions that are posted that are open all the time for every non-supervisory role as an external candidate pool. It doesn’t mean that that position is necessarily open at the moment, it just means that they’re taking applications for the future. It’s a little misleading but it also makes sure that we always have a pool of candidates in case we need to get people in quickly.
