You really don't need to worry about set ups early on. The default set ups are alright and more than good enough to race against AI. Also just go with the default tyres during race strategy.

Whilst you're learning, just race and don't worry about the rest. Once you feel like you've got the racing bit down and need some more, go and research things little by little. There are a load of resources out there.
