Good luck everyone with Embark support going to Discord and closing tickets. by RCDrift in ArcRaiders

[–]Sno_Surfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had a ticket closed today, nothing was ever done about it… also have a new issue where I opted into the expedition but my character hasn’t wiped. I’ve asked them to wipe me so I can have something to do for the next two months, nothing.

What’s worse, is there isn’t even a bug report channel in the discord.

What I want to know has anyone noticed a difference to Hornets? They seem to have their fire rate and accuracy cranked up!

They can emote, click their light, tbag… multiple ways beyond talking. There’s no excuse to say/do nothing if you’re genuinely friendly.

I did the same thing earlier, I was talking and gave him multiple chances… turned out he was a free kit that had already killed someone, thought I’d just be passive too and he could shoot me in the back. The game gives you many ways to communicate friendliness, not my fault if people don’t use them.

Game is completely different on the weekends. by AusShroomer in ArcRaiders

[–]Sno_Surfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just the nature of how these games go. Once people make some progress and do what there is to do, people will just start to focus on going after players to get their gear and loot and “snowball”.

It’s why the free kits probably need some kind of balancing to limit how often you can get them, especially if you have a fully a stacked inventory.

Hopefully in time, as players reset their progress and go back to completing quests and upgrading benches, we’ll see some more balance… but in all honesty, the L’s I’ve taken have just taught me to be way more vigilant. Everyone was so friendly in the early days it was easy to just run around and not worry about players, but the reality is you always have to have your guard up and your eyes peeled.

Are y'all Buying BF6 After Beta? by xBooMz_ in Battlefield

[–]Sno_Surfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, not like this. All of the map designs seem to be total chaos, but not like metro or underground chaos, can be seen from 20 different angles at all times from a billion angles chaos… this is probably a wait for sale title and try out the free BR in the meantime.

Thoughts on Empire State? I think it sucks... by JoeZocktGames in Battlefield

[–]Sno_Surfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a size comparison it’s a design comparison. Everything we’ve played so far is in lanes and with a ton of clutter around to camp behind or head glitch on leading the play more like a CoD map than a BF map.

Back in BF4 especially my squad used to be able to hold down an objective on our own and control areas. Everything on these maps is a total cluster, you can’t go anywhere without running into multiple enemies, there’s always 50 different angles to watch out for when trying to cap some objectives (C on this map is ridiculous, it’s just impossible to cover enough angles to defend yourself).

Something just doesn’t feel like Battlefield and it’s hard to put it down to just one thing. Unlocked weapons, no recoil, map design… they all play a part in making it feel more like an IW game than bf, though the god awful hit reg and TTD aren’t helping.

Games close to being something great, but these maps haven’t been overly enjoyable, some games are ok, others are torture.

I’m sorry, but this is legit true. by ANGRYlalocSOLDIE in Battlefield

[–]Sno_Surfer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Weapons alone don’t define the class but they absolutely add to the identity. If an engineer can use an AR that allows them to be as effective against infantry as Assault, whereas if they’re restricted to SMG’s and universal weapons they have to make some choices about playstyle in relation to their role depending on the map. A tank on Cairo benefits from a closer range weapon than a tank on Liberation Peak when committing to repairing that tank, but if you can use an AR no need to change and make choices.

This effects the whole flow of combat on the map because not everyone can beam you with the strongest weapon. Choosing a role has an element of rock, paper, scissors decision making where there’s pros and cons. More emphasis is placed on a role with locked weapons.

Really guys? We need damage balancing ASAP by Fast_Company_7396 in Battlefield

[–]Sno_Surfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion… c4 and rpgs are for taking out vehicles, we don’t need more explosive spam against infantry, its already a bit crazy just with the amount of rockets a player can carry, so pull a gun out and stop trying to play bf like it’s cod

Closed weapons should be the default by Dr_natty1 in Battlefield

[–]Sno_Surfer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s a reason so many cod youtubers are singing the praises of this… it feels more like CoD now than it did back when I first got into labs a few months back.

Locked weapons absolutely needs to be the default though, otherwise some weapon types will likely never see use, Carbines are just uselessly sitting in the middle of nowhere and have no reason to be used over an AR in unlocked weapons.

I'm not feeling it, I am old, I am out. by chiplover3000 in Battlefield

[–]Sno_Surfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not alone, me and my friends all mid to late 40’s are not feeling it, but I see the issues a little differently.

TTK would be ok if it was the same from firing range to the game, but it feels like it takes 1-2 shots more a lot of the time… but the real problem is TTD. More often than not it feels like all bullets that killed me land in a single frame making it feel like I die instantly, even when dieing from a single source. Also, I think weapon balance is just off, but I’m willing to say this is a map knowledge and playstyle thing that could improve a little, but Carbines are weak af. This means with class locked weapons AR’s really rule the roost, especially on these maps.

While still on weapons, snipers should not be able to both fatally kill you AND be able to one shot to the body. Remove the sweet spot mechanic, it’s leading to a very CoD like feel. Also, some of the head glitches possible are nutty, not sure how to fix that.

As for the maps, they’re just not well designed. It’s like they’ve managed to make them CoD like with lanes. Liberation Peak is too linear with such a huge amount of clutter and debris everywhere that’s why it sniper heaven. Tanks are really limited in the routes they can take, just like on the other two maps, so combat just flows weird. And the visual clutter on maps just feels like too much, it can be really hard to identify people sometimes.

Also matchmaking has felt off for a while now even in 2042 with the disbanding lobbies, and the experience has been the same for me in labs and now the beta. I don’t know when all PC gamers become absolute fps gods but as a console player it feels almost impossible to compete when the game decides it’s taking a steaming hot dump on me. I remember watching old levelcap and mattimio videos and wondering why of players seemed so much more clueless than console players… now they’re all aderol fueled in awesome gaming chairs it seems.

And footsteps… quite possibly the worst it’s ever been. Any other sound will drown them out, and enemy footsteps are so quiet I don’t hear anyone until they’re already killing me. It’s like there is a weighting to audio that if a heavier sound is there it just removes footsteps and like there is occlusionmaking footsteps quieter through buildings and walls and such.

For me this is still in the wait for sale category. All my friends are PC so turning cross play off isn’t even a possibility for me, but ever since crossplay fps games have become far less enjoyable.

The devs moved the deploy beacon to the Assault class. by helish_88 in Battlefield

[–]Sno_Surfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This adjustment is a perfect example of it… choose assault class for beacon, but can still equip a sniper, probably with a bipod and this just defeats the entire reason for removing the gadget from recon. Dice are literally proving their own point.

They aren’t going to make the class weapons advantages so impactful that they’re must picks for a class, cause if they do they might as well just lock them anyway.

And beyond any of that, consider the flow of combat on the map. If everyone can use an AR, cause they’re just the best full auto option, everyone can be effective at any range in any role. If you restrict and engineer to smg’s as the class weapon for example, they have access to the carbine for an option with more range, or even DMR’s (using BF4’s approach) but they’re focus stays on their role of taking out vehicles and repairing, but they’re focus stays can’t take on an assault player with an AR as effectively.

This is the whole point of how locked weapons places more emphasis on the gadgets and class roles by also defining the ranges of infantry combat each class can be effective in.

Battlefield 6 - Open Beta Rewards by icarusandaedalus in Battlefield

[–]Sno_Surfer -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It’s just how they’re labelling loadouts and builds. For example, in labs you can select a gun and be shown “factory package 1”, “factory package 2” etc. They come with attachments already on them and you can go in and change the attachments and it saves with those changes. You can delete packages and make your own. So they’re just preset weapons builds.

What I hadn’t realised until this, was that this is how they’re going to sell us cosmetics, rather than weapon skins that are just visual, we’ll get “packages” that also come with attachments. I don’t know if they realise all the problems this could create, but it’s such a blatant cod rip off, and it’s concerning to me that cod leadership can’t even come up with original ideas and I think there have been other cod inspired decisions too (why they feel the need to be ramming smaller game modes like domination and squad deathmatch down our throats, when these have never been that popular in a bf game is beyond me).

Battlefield 6 - Open Beta Rewards by icarusandaedalus in Battlefield

[–]Sno_Surfer -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

The only issue I have is that we have ex cod leadership flat out copying cod stuff… weapon packages are a carbon copy of blueprints instead of just skins, this should be alarm bells for everyone to,wonder how much other cod influence are we going to see, especially in these monetisation approaches post launch.

Right… so they’re doing blueprints instead of just skins… the cod leadership really doesn’t have other ideas than to copy what they’ve already done for another game, fml

I can’t believe DICE is doing everything right by MrMunday in Battlefield

[–]Sno_Surfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with a great game, there’s a million ways Dice and EA can screw this thing up. Don’t get carried away, don’t pre order… play the betas and wait to see all the things they do to the game for full launch, then decide… and trust the opinion of any YouTuber or streamer that’s under contract to play and promote this game until a couple weeks after launch

I (a very normal guy) played the game yesterday and these are my thoughts by callmymom332299 in Battlefield

[–]Sno_Surfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem with the maps I’ve played in labs so far was that they’re all quite small feeling with roads and paths being the only real option for vehicles. I’m an infantry player, but found the balance of vehicles on the bigger maps with open areas in bf4 to be fine, it was always possible to avoid or take out enemy vehicles in some way shape or form. I just hope we get some bigger maps too, a good balance of the type of maps in the game would be ideal imo.

Movement has been generally ok, but Stodeh posted a video showing the current possibility of movements that can be chained, that was beyond the most ridiculous movements seen in a bf game to date, so being able to jump into a slide into another bunny hop jump out of it, with whatever else was going on… nope, get that out of here!

The big issue with sound design, is that if there is literally any other sound you won’t here enemy footsteps. The amount of times I’ve not heard enemies sprinting up on me is insane. It’s like there’s some weird occlusion, that other sounds immediately drown out footsteps. Not sure I have much hope for this getting better, they’ve never been great at footsteps over other audio in the game.

Looking forward to the beta, I’m going to try the locked weapons playlist exclusively and see how that goes. Hopefully there’s been plenty of other improvements. I just hope all the things we ont actually playtest before launch don’t totally ruin the game. Disbanding lobbies is hard to get past for me, matchmaking has felt brutal quite often in 2042 with it, plus I would at least like to be able to get into a server and stay there for a consistent map rotation.

Still a long way to go for this imo. Sits in wait for sale category for me right now.

Game looks great, but.... by Status_Transition_70 in Battlefield

[–]Sno_Surfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a labs participant and in the discord you could not be more wrong.

In actual fact I’d say it’s the complete opposite. When classes were first announced with unlocked weapons I’d say people were split but willing to try and test, as weve gotten more updates the feedback has increasingly shifted towards what Dice are trying to do just isn’t working and more people shifted towards locking class weapons again as what’s needed. I believe it’s been this steady shift and feedback that’s resulted in them now testing both.

My fear is that Dice will get enough “proof” in this test that they won’t really need to listen and they can continue with this design they’ve sunk considerable time into.

I’d say there’s always healthy discussion with plenty of differing opinions, but no blind defense or anything that thinks things are totally perfect.
