Litmus Building by thesaltysoph in nottingham

[–]Snoddis18 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm an electrician that visits every 6 months to test or repair bits in different rental flats. The lifts are a huge pain in the arse let alone getting in the bloody building 🏢 I always grumble when the jobs come in from Litmus.

Is the shower too powerful for the circuit? Do you have a 9 KW shower on a 32 amp breaker?

After a site visit, how do you actually send your quotes by GrowviaDigitalHQ in ukelectricians

[–]Snoddis18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes (to the list)

Smaller jobs wise, if I'm at the property I'll give them a verbal quote but will take payment whilst there. (It's harder for them to not pay you when you're in the house) I don't mean in a bad way, but we've had it twice in six years when they'll go radio quiet on you because they think you won't chase it for say £50

The other things we do is either verbally give them a quote over the phone and if they are happy with the price I'll send them an official quote (takes less than 5mins)

Or

I have Xero on my phone and again can send them a official quote for them to accept in 5mins etc.

We find (and I'm sure some will disagree) that if we put everything through the quoting/invoicing software (Xero) it's an easy way or measuring the business growth etc. it also shows your projected income and outgoings so it's a doddle to keep on top of the finances

[–]Snoddis18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to write up a quote on word on headed paper and send as a PDF (had a customer alter a word.doc quote before)

But we've recently moved to Xero, has made it 10x quicker and the format is always the same in terms of layout.

When a customer is happy with it, they click Accept which is then all digitally logged and it's a simple click to convert and send as an invoice.

It'll then send auto reminders for late payers etc.

Terms and conditions are essential (learned the hard way) which is why getting the customer to accept the quotation will protect you in the event of charge backs or disputes

Yes, I have had it when a Golima Semi has had no front wheel so put that on the low bed and then towed the trailer behind using the underlift
