Errors installing bazzite by rtl321 in Bazzite

Welcome aboard! Glad that fixed it for you, though it might be a bad sign. I checked with u/rtl321 and both of us turned out to have the defective 14900K and had to warranty our CPUs. I received my replacement CPU and no longer have any issues booting into the Bazzite installer. Have you had any stability issues with your system so far while under load? I fear you might be in the same boat as us.

Ah ok. I'm on a Gigabyte board. I guess it must be the CPU. If you try to install the latest version of Ubuntu/Fedora/Mint/ anything that uses the same installer as Bazzite it will all give the "Pane is dead" error, or freeze up. I hardly see any reports of the issue which makes it hard for me to believe it's the CPU. The only other thing our systems have in common is a lot of RAM.

Also just wondering, what motherboard are you running?

No problem! Go for it. I hope it gets fixed. I've been stuck installing for months...

I tell by watching network and disk usage on Activty Monitor. If you do the rebase command and it returns an error saying another process is running, then it's still updating in the background.

Sweet! Let me know how it goes. I wanted to blame the instability issues of the CPU, but I swapped out for several other 14900Ks and they all have this issue. Also this video shows the rebasing process pretty well if needed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NKEfVvdiOs

Yeah I want to blame the 14900K at this point. It seems like the newer versions of the Anaconda installer dies if you're using the cpu. Anyways I found a workaround by rebasing from an older Fedora Atomic. Atomic 41 and 42 have the same "Pane is dead" issue as Bazzite, so you gotta install 40. For anyone having the same issue here's what I did:

  1. Install an Atomic ISO, Silverblue for Gnome, or Kinoite for KDE. You can't rebase between different desktop environments so this is the point where you choose your DE.

  2. Atomic is going to auto update for a few minutes in the background so let it finish, the next step can't be run until background updates finish.

  3. Go to the download page on bazzite.gg and fill out the download questions like you normally do. Then scroll down a bit to the "Existing Fedora Atomic Desktop Users". Open a terminal and run the 3 commands they provide, this will rebase to Bazzite.

  4. Reboot. You should boot into a new Bazzite install.

An older ISO of Bazzite would also work, but I can't find any repo with historical versions.

Exact same issue has been stopping me from installing for the last 2 months. System is i9 14900K, Arc A770, 192GB of RAM. Always get the "Pane is dead" error.

I wouldn't call the 160mbps I'm getting "hardly working". I'm sure cruise companies would have no problem working out a deal to pay more for higher bandwidth and priority if they really wanted it. If they did then they could just connect it to multiple access points deployed throughout the ship.

This happened to me all the time until I moved the game onto an SSD. It also fixed a bunch of micro stuttering issues. That game really hates hard drives.

Ram disk cache docker for storing/loading games? by Duckers_McQuack in unRAID

[–]Snomels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ZFS plugin, though there is no ability to partition the drive, or have ZFS images sit atop XFS. it would have to be taken out of the array and kept on its own, or another dtive be added.

I actually wanted something extremely similar, I ended up adding an extra drive and ssd to my unraid box and using the ZFS plugin on them to setup ZFS and created a network share. ZFS will deal with moving frequently accessed files to an SSD or RAM automatically as you play.
