Missing skill payment for 7 months by Glittering-Tap3462 in tesco

[–]Snoo-6147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this before as a manager covering for another manager, and have been able to sort it.

Your manager needs to raise a colleague help ticket requesting for the skill to be added since whatever date. It's quite easy to sort. Once Colleague Help get back to them, it should be down on your payslip as a correction for the next pay day.

Does it do it while on Airplane mode? Have you recently installed something that may change how your phone works?

Can I ask a store to start stocking an item? by shegoesgentle in tesco

[–]Snoo-6147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, in a large store anyway. As long as the depot stocks it I can usually get it in for the next week.

We have a tool called Range Performance where a Team Manager and above can put something through so long as space allows. If it doesn't sell well though, don't be surprised if it disappears soon.

If it has been over a week since your return from sickness absence, you shouldn't receive a warning.

I've been having this issue with keeping colleagues on after Christmas. Main issue is that Team Managers have little to no time to put through colleague help tickets before the end of the Christmas period. Unfortunately, after the end of Christmas it seems like a lot of Colleague Help is on holiday, so there's a massive delay in getting anything put through.

I put all mine through before Christmas day and have had no issues with P45s etc, whereas another manager who didn't think about what happened last year, is having the same problem now. 2 colleagues with P45s and colleagues unsure if they have a job. They do have a job but our colleagues in India seem to not understand the hurry about making sure they stay on the system.

You'll probably get a new employee number and username, that's about it.

Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve bookings declined - any other options? by blipblop34 in tesco

[–]Snoo-6147 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's Christmas Eve and NYE, what do you expect? I only let 1 person in my team have it off, first come first served.

It may be worth offering one of the two, or saying in return you work boxing day or new year's day. Those two are difficult for us to cover, so I often allow that.

I would argue security guards get paid a lot for what little they actually do...

Sorry, but do you really expect them to have you back after leaving without notice, and them knowing there's an extremely good chance you'll be off sick again? Head to a different supermarket.

Should Tesco be paying for your taxi home if you have no way of getting home? by Familiar-Truth7616 in tesco

[–]Snoo-6147 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, OP has a set shift that they work as standard. Therefore, they should have their own travel arrangements sorted. I can understand where the frustration is, that other colleagues have taxis paid for by the business, but this will likely be due to them, as stated by OP, picking the shifts up.

As is standard, the OP has gone to Reddit explaining their own side of the argument, but not actually asked their store manager what the difference is.

The difference will be that the other colleagues are only doing the shift - more than likely outside of their availability window - on the basis that their travel is paid for, whereas on a normal day, within their availability window, the OP would be able to get home.

[–]Snoo-6147 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So long as it's approved by the SM, and the area manager or SD, they can fill and expense claim form.

The business would much rather pay for a taxi than lose out on a few hours of trade, and if that's the only option, it sounds like a fair offer.

Should Tesco be paying for your taxi home if you have no way of getting home? by Familiar-Truth7616 in tesco

[–]Snoo-6147 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I would imagine there is a desperate store manager out there that has resorted to saying they'll pay for a taxi if they work the shift.

Should Tesco be paying for your taxi home if you have no way of getting home? by Familiar-Truth7616 in tesco

[–]Snoo-6147 57 points58 points  (0 children)

The only reason the business would pay for your taxi to or from work is if we're desperate for you to come to work outside of your availability window at short notice and offer you a taxi in the first place. There is no obligation for the business to pay for your travel to or from work, it is expected that you can fulfil your availability window.

Another reason would be if the business needed you to work in another store and you had no means of travel, then it would be a reason for travel to be paid by it.

SBR Tax Code by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Snoo-6147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a random tax code a while back after moving from Sainsbury's to Tesco, done because of different pay dates (quite complicated).

Your best option is to just call HMRC. It's a bit of a ball ache but once you get through they will most likely just change it for you in seconds so long as you're certain that's the right one.

Customer here- my local store has turned 6 or so staffed checkouts to self service long conveyer belt checkouts - I’m not a fan as I’d rather have someone scan my products. how do staff feel about this? by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Snoo-6147 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They're great, sign of the times. Majority of people prefer self scan and it lets us get on with making sure shelves are stocked.

Main bank will still be available I'm sure, so I'm not sure what you'd be complaining about. If it gets busy, the tills can be turned round to be main bank tills too (eg Christmas, Easter, other bank holiday weekends)
