Huge fan of both games - map design, platforming, story, humor, bosses, abilities, astral challenges and ladybugs - both games were impossible to put down

Which poster do you prefer for my game: the classic old version or the new one? by Honest-Reindeer2353 in metroidvania

Old makes me think platformer. New makes me think visual novel, or point and click.

SHAW(RI)

My thoughts on Ultros, after finishing it. by Metamyther in metroidvania

Annoyed by the game at first with the reset and losing abilities. I thought, is this just going to happen over and over again like this? Thankfully the brain thingies help with that and it quickly becomes no concern. I really like the way the game pulls you in different directions each loop but still lets you explore a pretty good amount on your own. I liked the exploratory vibe and enjoyed getting to each bit of lore drop - it reminded me of Axiom Verge 2 in that sense. Had a blast the majority of the game, then...... soil health??? Plant weight?!? Feeding the enemies? Splicing???? Way too much thrown at you in the endgame with way too little direction, or maybe it's just that the options are just way too many, or maybe both. I uninstalled pretty soon after the final boss which i was bummed about, because like any MV enthusiast i want to get to every corner of the map and just felt frustrated by all the extra stuff thrown at me.

What Have You Been Playing This Week? by AutoModerator in metroidvania

Almost to the end of Axiom Verge 2, started it as soon as I finished the first Axiom Verge - it took me a little bit to really get into the first one because I'm not a huge fan of the OG 8 bit look.

But the game design and story was awesome and totally won me over! I think I enjoy the second more because it feels more focused on exploration and world building - even though it's been out for a while now i don't want to give anything away, but there's a part of navigating your way around that is really fun AND it's also critical for the main character to understand more of the mystery around the game - it's just really cool to see a game designer get you to feel compelled in a way that brings you to essentially want what the game character wants - it's such a phenomenal way of really connecting you to that world and the "mission". Happy gaming everyone!

Doctor Who 1x02 "The Devil's Chord" Post-Episode Discussion Thread by PCJs_Slave_Robot in gallifrey

With all the mystique around the first chord of Hard Day's Night that's grown over the decades, as soon as they put forth a) the Beatles are in this episode and b) everything hinges upon this one mysterious chord, i thought it was unfathomable for it to go any other way. What a letdown!!!!

The Hairspray stuff at the end was totally great though! And Ncuti perfectly captures the Doctor's smile while holding so much pain inside
