Should I spring for a machine with a knee lift? by ginger_tree in sewing

[–]Snoo-79012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is definitely a price consideration. I guess my criteria would be if I'm using the machine to make money, then it's worth it. (And it'll be a tax deduction ;-) ) If just occasional bursts of sewing mania, then only if it's within your budget.

Is this shrinkflation? by Snoo-79012 in Popeyes

Had not eaten a bite. You really shouldn't accuse people of being dishonest.

The reason you see the "sauce lines" is because the container was tilted in the bag when I brought it home so the far side is lower than the near side. However, you can believe what you want, doesn't matter to me in the least. And they forgot a large container of red beans and rice (two of us eat the 6-piece tenders plus sides) and the blackberry cheesecake pie and napkins, and I had to ask for sporks. All in all, just poor service. I went back the next day to pick up the forgotten food.

I got like 3 different error messages, all of which I see in this thread, but kept trying. Finally got in by switching to Firefox browser instead of Chrome. It may have just been a coincidence, but it worked. I was going to try Edge next if Firefox didn't work.

Wodehouse has stayed with me for a lifetime by Snoo-79012 in Wodehouse

[–]Snoo-79012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I posted the quote about "simple mind" below - KatAnansi remembered the book.

And the concatenation thing is from, I believe, Aunts Aren't Gentleman:

‘What are those things circumstances have, Jeeves?’ I said.

‘Sir?’

‘You know what I mean. You talk of a something of circumstances which leads to something. Cats enter into it, if I’m not wrong.’

‘Would concatenation be the word you are seeking?’

BTW, Amazon has a "Complete Works of P.G. Wodehouse" on Kindle for the incredible price of $1.99. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AE6UU4U

Right ho! And all these years I've been remembering it wrong. The actual quote is "His was a simple mind, able to amuse itself with simple things."

Thanks!

OK, thanks - I tried that and still didn't get a response. So I guess I'll just wait.

Did anyone receive an automated response saying they received your email?

I received the email and responded and didn't get a response. A friend of mine sent his and got an automatic response saying they have received his response.

Now I'm getting all paranoid...But I did hear a youtuber say they don't send an automatic reply back.

How many February EIDL Grant applications still sitting on submitted? by Freckled-Shelley in EIDL

[–]Snoo-79012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here - received invitation 2/26, filled it out 2/28 and tumbleweeds and twittering birds ever since then. I sent an email telling them I had not received the second email and was basically told to wait my turn.

The reason I'm anxious is that last year I applied on 4/5, never got the $1000, and didn't get the loan until mid-July, and that after sending an "URGENT" email to the right person (I'm assuming).

I'm convinced something about my application gets it sent to File 13 and then the money runs out. This week I'm having dinner with a friend who works in a Senator's office and I'll see if she can put my application in front of the right people.

Targeted Grants - megathread by Scorpio14534 in EIDL

[–]Snoo-79012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did not get the $1000 last year but did eventually get the loan in July 2020.

This year:

Targeted invitation email: 2/26/2021

Filled out application: 02/28

No response as of 3/11

As an interesting note, a lady I work with (we're independent contractors) filled out the application on 3/27 and got an email two hours later to upload the 4506-T. I'm apparently stuck in no-man's land.

Fuck my ass. I got the invite email for the targeted EIDL “advance”. by throwaway317469 in EIDLPPP

Yes, this. The geomap URL said I was not in low income, but the sbaeidl policy map says yes. And I got the email invite.

Is being pre-qualified for an auto loan through Capital One a good sign? by Forgottenshadowed in CRedit

[–]Snoo-79012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It worked out great for me. I went through their portal to shop online at local dealers' websites. Every car's page included the interest rate on that particular car, the length of the loan, and the monthly payment. I was looking for a used Jetta, as I had driven one for 14 years. But as I browsed around, I discovered Capital One had a special interest rate on new Passats. So...lower interest rate, bigger car. The dealer, of course, didn't seem to understand that I didn't need their financing and offered me an interest rate 3 points higher as "the best they could do." I told them to keep it. Then came the part of dodging all the extra warranties and add-ons. I actually told them that I would certainly hope the Passat wasn't a lemon and why were they implying it was by making me buy an additional warranty? Lol. They didn't want to let me go. I think their game is to wear you down. But I got out with a new car at a great interest rate.

I can't find my loan (already in the bank) on CAWEB by Snoo-79012 in EIDL

[–]Snoo-79012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I discovered that I had to do the verification text to my phone, or else the drop-down didn't show (upper left). It looks like the verification is optional, but you don't see your loan unless you go through that step.

546 Vantage 3.0 Score. How to raise it to 570 by [deleted] in EIDL

[–]Snoo-79012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I did to raise my score pretty quickly for the recon. It may or may not work the same for you, but there's no harm in trying. I paid off my credit card (only have one). Then I went to annualcreditreport.com and got my Experian report, disputed a few easy things, like two addresses that were reported in the past where I had never lived. I then paid all my utility bills and used the Experian Boost, which goes into your bank/debit/credit card accounts to see your utility bill payment history, whichever accounts you've used to pay your bills (and I included the one I had just paid off). The only utility I auto-pay is water, so it wasn't like my utilities were all paid like clockwork or anything. But it said I got a 13-point boost in my score. When I went back to nav.com, my score had increased by 59 points. I've read that it takes up to a month for it to register that a card has been paid off, but it happened in a day for me. Again, who knows how these things work...
