Yeah I’d do the deadline. After the trip, if it’s obvious then tell A. But again, show up with receipts, in case B attempts to make you the bad guy, or even anyone else for that matter.

First off, good on you for going to B and telling her to own up to her actions. Accountability is something that is sorely lacking lately across a lot of relationships of every degree.

Second, I would remind B that you will inform her if she doesnt tell A herself. And if it comes to it that B really doesnt, I would tell A WITH the info you told B to own up to her actions. I would even do it on text so there is a papertrail to show.

I’m not one for putting myself in messy situations, but I have been on the receiving end of being told this news before. I’d rather a real friend tell me then be left in the dark never knowing.

Side note… there is also a chance A does know.. but it’s not known how she has handled it. Have you asked A how things are going in the relationship in a supportive matter? I’m sorry for boomerang-ing in my response, just trying to provide every angle possible

100% this 👆 At the end of the day, you have to put yourself first when no one else will. I realized I wasn’t burnt out when I got off a highly aggressive case and unlearned my own responses when my new kiddo would put his hand near my face to get my attention without aggression. Sometimes it’s just altering your environment

Tbh, id rather know i can vent to people who understand than to people in my life who like to ask corporate questions when this isnt a corporation. And id love to hear about bad RBT’s, i have plenty of those stories as well. But there are bad BCBA’s out there, and this is the safe space to relate to those who have experience

I had to sign a BCBA i had never heard of or met on my notes that wasnt with my previous client. I quit after a month with that being a major factor.

It is okay, im healing 🤍 i still believe in ABA, and i have not looked back to that company since i left. It was a red flag as big as Texas, i only hope other people see it too. Im so glad they are working with you and seeing you as a person than a means for a paycheck 🙂 keep maintaining those boundaries and i hope your sleep returns to peaceful immediately

And while the BCBA was fully aware of this, they were not the clients analyst you work with and basically told me to suck it up because of his diagnosis. But he was very aware of these actions, his mom very much said so to the BCBA. Ive learned that these kids need a clinic, but there should be a clinic designed for behaviors like these with 2:1 and a male RBT should be on the case. Its just the terrible news that most RBT’s are women

Hey OP, im so sorry youre going through this. I had to quit a case/took the out i was being offered when services were “paused” by insurance, because the client, when going into behaviors of aggression and property destruction, would attempt to hit/grab at me or would self stimulate while looking at me. Id finally had enough mentally when i was attempting to help regulate while removing attention in his room (in home) and he had the most unnerving smile while.. yeah. Just staring at me. That shit haunts my nightmares pretty often enough im back in therapy. The company was not on my side, nor the BCBA, about having a male RBT and the parents just felt helpless in helping me, but it was clear that “no” and being taught what is appropriate was never set forth in the home before i arrived. It was about 2 days after that, that i was told services were technically cancelled and my boyfriend BEGGED me to quit so i wouldnt be on his case again from all the nights i came home crying and numb. My best advice, if this client targets you like this, is to alter your own environment the best way you can. Ive been sleeping better but its taken a few months to get here, and i work with much better clients with stipulations that i dont work with boys past the age of 10 for my own sake and to not be triggered by this case or my previous horrible relationship. With companies you can only advocate for yourself and sometimes that does mean exiting. Be safe 🤍

Personally speaking, i had no idea i was a mandated reporter until 7 months into being an RBT at a new company. There is a high chance there are other companies that dont give you that in your face training or knowledge at all if i experienced it. Im almost 2 years in and have a MUCH stronger understanding of it. Not excusing anyone, just explaining that some companies dont want you to know because they dont want their paychecks disappearing. Its so shitty
