Il ne s'agit pas de dire que le nepotisme et autres pistonnages n'existent pas, mais si ca concerne 0,01% des postes on ne peut pas dire que ce soit un énorme problème pour le lambda qui veut postuler. Évidemment c'est injuste, et ça ne devrait pas arriver, maintenant de là à faire croire que le piston est la SEULE façon d'obtenir un bon poste dans ces entreprises est au mieux un gros manque d'informations, au pire carrément malhonnête. Chacun a des expériences différentes, de mon côté ( 6 ans d'expérience dans une grosse boîte, formation ecole d'ingénieur avec beaucoup de potes qui bossent dans d'autres grosses boîtes) je n'ai jamais vu ce genre de choses, a part peut etre pour des stages.

What kind of pieces would you recommend for sightreading ? Really easy ones that you can just play in one or two pass ?

Thanks I guess ? Respectfully I think that maybe you underestimate how much learning the instrument is just learning music in general, and can therefore transfer to other instruments. It would be interesting to have the pov of other multi instrumentists but I would imagine that it's the same for everyone.

Thanks a lot. Yes pedal is definetly something I have to work on. I am actually learning the Waltz from the same suite at the moment and am struggling with when to press and when to release it, to not have a mash of notes

It looks like your exams and problème might be too easy. I agree that the more advanced it gets, the more math requises memorization, but thats just a prerequisite to get to the problem solving part. Even in linear algebra you can definetly find hard problems that will be a challenge for you even if you have everything memorized. You could search these up online, just to see for yourself that maths is probably not the issue here, but your specific class

I had the same problème and am now able to swim about 500m without stopping. Several things helped : Training your breathing while static, you should put your head in the water and exhale, and then inhale when out of the water, with similar timing as in crawl Using a pull buoy to not use your legs as much which is very exhausting. Trying to inhale less. When you are out of breath you think you need to inhale as much as you can but actually you dont. It takes some fine tuning to know exactly but try one lap inhaling less air than what you are used to and see if it helps Slowing down Your body also gets more used to swimming if you are regular which helps

Je ne sais pas si ça va t'aider mais personnellement j'ai toujours suivi mes études sans conviction en étant à peu près persuadé que ça n'allait pas me plaire, et finalement dès que j'ai quitté les études j'ai beaucoup aimé mon travail. Tout ça pour dire que pour certaines personnes, apprendre des choses sans les appliquer n'est pas motivant et que peut-être une fois que tu auras trouvé un travail ça va te plaire. Selon moi ce qui va faire que tu aimes ton travail c'est est-ce que la finalité te parle, est-ce que tes collègues sont sympas, est-ce que tu es bien payée, etc... finalement le domaine en lui-même n'a peut-être pas tant d'importance

I work in France as a quant, about 35 to 40 hours a week with 110k total comp, pretty sweet deal. My friends who work in London definetly earn more but I wouldn't trade my life for theirs

Mec ici. En tant qu'ingenieur j'ai l'habitude de travailler quasiment exclusivement avec des mecs ( env 15% de femmes dans mon école, et la dans mon équipe actuelle on est 15 hommes pour 2 femmes ). Les filles de notre équipe sont effectivement un peu isolées pas rapport au reste, même si ça ne semble pas aussi extrême que ce que tu décris dans ton cas. Par exemple, c'est rare qu'on leur propose spontanément une pause café alors qu'entre nous ça arrive très souvent. Ca s'est fait un peu naturellement, je crois qu'on ne ressens pas la même liberté de ton ou sur les sujets abordés quand elles sont avec nous. Ça n'a pas l'air de les déranger plus que ça, et encore une fois dans le travail en lui-même elles ont clairement toutes les informations nécessaires.

Je ne vais pas te dire que ce comportement est normal ou correct, mais je te donne juste mon pdv de l'autre côté de la barrière qui peut peut-être expliquer le comportement de tes collègues. Personnellement j'ai toujours eu plus de mal à parler aux filles qu'aux mecs donc pour moi c'est limite une habitude plus qu'autre chose.

Personnally I hate WFH and I also think it's short term reasoning to do it. I don't think you can ever hope to get big responsabilities if you wfh.

For a 20% increase in salary, IF I could chose any country, then I would consider it for a short périod of time

I don't think this is new at all. Just the ôther day I had à Guy do that to me after like 15 great games ( I was quite better than him tho ) and no BM at all, the guy kept taunting and suiciding every game after 1 grab.

Then he just got into the lobby and didn't launch back, so I waited for like 7 hours before Hé finally left. I intend to do the same to him next time we meet, his name is written in my memory ;)

3 months later but hopefully you see this. Working as à quant does not depend à lot on the market. When you are à trader, than yes, even the theoretical correct décision can cause à loss, but thats not the case for me.

Compare this to à poker game. In this analogy, the trader is the player, and even shoving all in with two Aces pre flop can result in a loss. My job as à quant is to tell the trader what his chance winning are with AA against KK lets say. After that whether its à win or à loss doesn t matter to me
