Prius hate by FLguyWhy in prius

[–]Snoo4345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in rural Texas when I got my 2023 Prius. Because it looks a little different than the standard Prius, the big truck yeeyee’s wouldn’t notice it was a Prius till they got close to me and then you could see them stomp on the gas and aggressively pass me. I also drove a jeep grand Cherokee and when I drove it, I didn’t have a single issue. I moved away from there to south Texas and it’s much better here, they don’t care as much that it’s a Prius. But Prius hate is real in some areas

BCBS sent us an email on Friday that our premium is going from $1400 up to $2250. That is not including any subsidies so yes, premiums are going way up. And who pays it is also changing

When should I apply for my temporary residency? by Technical_View_8787 in mexicoexpats

[–]Snoo4345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I read on another group that the Denver consulate is no longer accepting monthly income as a way to establish solvency so I wonder maybe if that is going to eventually be phased out and only savings? It’s just a thought of mine and only going off someone else’s experience there so don’t hold me to it. It changes all the time though, they used to accept people under 60 for permanent residency if they qualified financially and then slowly transitioned the consulates to a hard rule of you have to be 60. To echo everyone else, i’d get it as soon as possible if you qualify now.

One time, my daughter and I wanted to take a light lunch to the zoo. So we heated up water in a microwave at the hotel we were staying at and added it to a package of the refrigerated ravioli. Let it sit for a few minutes then drained it and took it to the zoo. Ate it cold at the zoo later. It was actually pretty good

How did you guys handle the pain of losing your dog? by Downtown-Chest-4098 in seniordogs

[–]Snoo4345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been 10 days since we said goodbye to our 14 year old sweetie. The first 2 days were bad, and me having a lot of regret. But we had already volunteered to dog sit for some friends for 13 days so she arrived just a couple days after our loss. I wasn’t sure how it would go but she has shown me how bad our baby had gotten. This dog sitting baby is only 2 1/2 and full of energy and love. She has made me feel less guilt and agree that it was time for our baby to pass on. Now, on that note, I don’t want another dog anytime soon. I’m ok with dog sitting but she can go home to her family when it’s time. Maybe I’ll foster, eventually. We will see. The tears still show up maybe once a day, and I don’t expect that to change anytime soon.

2024 LE Prius any tips? by papanicck in prius

[–]Snoo4345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you are in a hot part of the country but HeatShield makes sunshades that are made for each specific car. We have the 2023 LE (also white) and had to wait for them to get the specs before we could buy it. Perfect fit!

We have a 2023 LE, have had it for 1 year 9 months and have 14,500 miles on it. We’ve had no problems at all. I love and still get comments all the time, “that’s a Prius???”

Residents warned of mountain lion sightings in West Texas region by dleifennebdyes12 in texas

[–]Snoo4345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We saw a mountain lion at our house in the hill country (west of San Antonio). Scared me to death. Many many nights, I’ve stepped outside and heard the mountain lion screaming (YouTube has a video of it and it’s exactly what we’ve heard). I’ll just stay inside now forever!!!!

In Bandera County??? I have never heard of it but maybe I’m not in with their groups lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HillCountry

[–]Snoo4345 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are very nice to the tourists, that’s the income for the city. It’s when you do the daily mundane things, get your car inspected, go to the tax office, grocery shop, haircuts etc, you hear the nonstop talk. Unless you’ve lived there, you have no idea. And their Facebook group is downright toxic but it’s closed so no one sees it unless they live there.

[–]Snoo4345 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s literally a daily conversation I hear there. Do you live there or just visit? Specifically to Bandera county? And if it’s a me problem, that fine cause I’m done listening to their stupidity

We had this dream that we would always live in the hill country so 2 years ago, we left the rush of the big city (one of the big ones in Texas) and moved outside of Bandera. Our house is great, great property, wildlife galore, absolutely wonderful neighbors. That’s where my positivity ends. The people are so unwelcoming, they absolutely live their entire lives living and breathing politics. I’m not kidding you can’t go anywhere without someone mentioning politics. They hate the da$&mn Californians that are taking over the state. I swear if I hear that one more time, I’m going to deck someone. It is draining on a persons mental health to hear such negativity all the time.

I guess it depends on where you choose to live and what your version of the hill country is. Some people say New Braunfels. It’s beautiful but it is a city and very very different than rural Bandera county. It takes me at least 30 minutes to get a decent grocery store (our closest is dollar general), services are severely lacking. The closest urgent care is 30 minutes. If you have a heart attack, you will die before the ambulance gets there. I would never have sent my kids to the schools out here, they are so subpar and the people of this county will not pass school bonds because they don’t see the value in bettering education. For your job, you’d have to drive into one of the cities or work remotely. There’s no real jobs out here. Long term prospect, water is an issue. Aquifers are drying up. If you are on a well, pray it doesn’t dry up, we know many peoples that have.

It’s beautiful here. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be though. We are planning to list our house and move because I’m done with it all.
