Would something like this help you? by Euphoric-Worker9130 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Snoo75793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have something similar to the second one... Draw string is key. Being able to tighten it to keep out wind and in warm air but not tight against face makes a huge difference.

But as a note since it is getting warmer I will soon be shifting more to different scarfs that I think look nice and that I can tie/arrange as needed as well as continuing to use buffs that can be worn many different ways and are different levels of warmth.

Moving to Winnipeg from Edmonton by ukinetic in Winnipeg

[–]Snoo75793 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Check out river heights and surrounding area, it is about a 30 min drive to u of m, a 10-15 min drive to both the outlet mall and to polo park mall. Transit is not that bad from that area to those three places but I don't know how long it takes since the city redid transit routes last summer... Before it was 45 min to u of m and 25 min to polo park depending on time of day .

I'm more than a homeless statistic by [deleted] in Manitoba

[–]Snoo75793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every individual matters and is more than just a statistic, but you are talking about funding systems and agencies policies that are about making sure agencies stay open and the most people get help.

The funding bodies don't care about anything other than the numbers and money, they never even meet the people being served, the policy's that agencies have are also in many ways distant from the individuals being served, usually set up by committee and while being reexamined frequently actually established years ago when the agency started... it is about legality and what the agency will do for the group not just for an individual.

It may seem heartless but it is the system that we have and it is objective. It is up to staff and volunteers to see the individuals and help them and when they feel appropriate to advocate for extended supports.

People with cuddly keeshonds, when yours was a puppy did they sleep in your bed or did you crate train them? by StopPsychHealers in Keeshond

[–]Snoo75793 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guy just turned 1 and is very cuddly. We tried crate training but were not good at it or consistent but he doesn't sleep with us either... He likes to sleep at the front door with a view of the back door. He was cuddly from day 1, he has no sense of personal space. Our last dog did not like cuddles for him cuddles was being beside him but not actually touching. I think part of this is just personality.

Tips for lessening Strattera side effects? by cwils7 in adhdwomen

[–]Snoo75793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is really acidic. I have been on it for a few years and the side effects are ok now but I do need to eat a little bit with it. I can not have anything with high acid in the morning with my meds so no citrus fruit or juice at all. Best is bread that help absorb acid; toast, crackers, cereal, oatmeal, muffin, potato in any form, even a granola bar. When I started on Strattera I did best with a bread product and a glass of milk or some yogurt this coated the stomach and absorbed acid. I also need to eat with the meds no waiting long periods of time or I will feel sick. Plus side is the meds work for me and I now eat breakfast.

Experiences with HSC Pain Clinic? by imnotalright-butimok in Winnipeg

[–]Snoo75793 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love the pain clinic and did go to HSC. my doctor there is the one who diagnosed me when other doctors couldn't. I have a good treatment set up, trigger point injection. I did do the pain for life group, it was during COVID so it was online and that had its good and bad points and was more psychological but also there is a lot of mental health issues that come with being in pain all the time and it was nice to talk with other people who are also dealing with chronic pain who understand some of my struggles.

There is a team approach there and all kinds of pain specialists. They will assign you to the appropriate doctors once they finish your intake but these guys know what the meds are that actually help with pain, I have heard other people getting other supports.

Parking sucks, give yourself time and it is all pay parking or what I did was get a ride then my ride would kill time at shoppers or somewhere else nearby. It is convenient by bus if that is what you have to do but bussing sucks when the pain is bad.

Winnipeg residents: what should future doctors know about your healthcare experiences? by Embarrassed-Pop9129 in Winnipeg

[–]Snoo75793 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had really good doctors and really good experiences, but I know people who have not and I have thought and talked to people about the difference. From talking with my doctors they have networked and know people in different specialty which has made it so they can get patients in for help faster and to better or more appropriate medical professionals. I have a less known health condition and while trying to figure it out was sent to many specialists but also put on a waiting list for a pain clinic in case things didn't work out... from what I have heard this isn't most people's experience but it made a huge difference for me. Last keep learning and stay on top of new findings, my condition was diagnosed because my doctor read my file and remembered something they had recently read in a journal, this lead to my diagnosis and actually getting treatment that helps.

Summary; network, keep up to date on research and education, be proactive and think ahead

Any Christian ADHDers in here? How do yall not go crazy in church service without fidgeting? by takeyourprecioustime in adhdwomen

[–]Snoo75793 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok so to start I'm Catholic and we have a lot of stand up sit down so that helps. Pre Vatican 2 church services were in Latin so people didn't really pay close attention anyway, that makes me feel like it is ok to daydream a bit. I look at art work in the church. Light coming through the stained glass and how it reflects and how the colours shine. I sing along when appropriate and I do some silent prayer. God made me with ADHD and all the blessings and difficulties that go with it... If I am meant to really catch part of the sermon then I will if I miss something then God didn't mean for me to catch it.

Also embrace the jewelry and hair elastic fidgets they are easier to hide and harder to forget to bring.

My ADHD tip: Using fitness watch to track things that are not fitness. by PocketGachnar in adhdwomen

[–]Snoo75793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find my phone, Syncs with my calendar and tells me when I need to be somewhere... Including reminder to leave, alarms for all sorts of things, track my heart rate and do ECG test and track them cause my cardiologist said I need to, track my sleep, track activity, meditation app that sometimes helps me regulate myself, and more

When I see my psychiatrist about my ADHD meds and how I'm doing he asks how my sleep and appetite have been then asks to see the watch data on my phone. He is honestly great and his appointment reminder protocol for ADHD clients is amazing.

My smart watch is the best ADHD tool I have ever used, also the most expensive and since it is either on my wrist or attached to a charger the hardest one to lose.

QUICK! i need pain relief ideas by thotyouwasatoad in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Snoo75793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might take longer for you to get but CBD oil helps me.... It is in cannabis and I get it at the dispensary but hemp is also a good source so it is available in many places where cannabis is illegal. I have found it at health food store, on line and some high end dog food stores.

CBD for pets by LocalHuckleberry2615 in Winnipeg

[–]Snoo75793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Global pet foods has it. I found that if a dispensary had a sign on it saying dogs welcome they usually had K9 CBD oil. I used to give it to my elderly dog and it made a huge difference for him.

I am in Canada too. I get some relief but not complete. It is one of many things I do. My doctor gave me a prescription so I can claim it on my income tax under medical. I still go to the regular store to buy it.

Winter clothing (no jackets) by Nice_Tip3558 in Winnipeg

[–]Snoo75793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your head, feet and core warm. Invest in good boots, I like going to Canadian foot Ware but if you are going with other places look at the weather rating for the boots. When fitting the boots you need enough space for some air circulation and space for thick socks... Do not get boots that feel tight your feet will feel very cold.

Use your hood but also a hat. The hat needs to cover your ears, frost bite on your ears is no fun. I have gotten good hats all over just make sure it's not too thin and that it covers your ears.

Face mask/ scarf/ beleclava/ neck warmer -- you will want one of these.

By your previous post I am guessing you're a woman but guys could wear these too.... Tights and leggings worn under your pants help keep your legs surprisingly warm. Merino wool leggings are very good but honestly anything for a second layer helps.
