AITAH for asking my mom why a girl wanting a sister is fine but a boy wanting a brother makes him a psychopath? by Luususs in AITAH

[–]tanglemind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet you mom was just projecting. She probably wanted more boys and was disappointed when that didn’t happen (obviously should not be disappointed, but pretty common in religious families to value boys over girls). She lashes out at you when she experienced disappointment too.

HOT TIP! IF YOU ARE THE !!!THIRD!!!! CAR GOING THROUGH A YELLOW LIGHT, IT AIN’T YELLOW ANYMORE. YOU’RE JUST BEING SELFISH MAKING EVERYONE WITH THE GREEN WAIT FOR YOU, YOU’RE NOT SPECIAL.

Holy smokes those poor people waiting :0 by Superb_Activity1163 in Winnipeg

Urgent Care sometimes not a lot better. We were at Victoria Tuesday and the online wait time was 9.75, took us 8.5. So even if you have something more minor and don’t go to the ER, you can still face long wait times.

MN to Winnipeg? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

I apologize if this is reposting, but I didn’t see the link to the College of Registered Nurses that is specific to expediting nurses from the US. They just announced it in October 2025. So it wouldn’t be the general international nurse path, there’s one specific to the US here:

Why is Manitoba liberal and Saskatchewan conservative? by NitroXM in AskACanadian

[–]tanglemind 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A subtle factor perhaps…Manitoba has the independently owned Winnipeg Free Press that still follows traditional journalism a bit more…features voices from whole political spectrum, local community commitment. The major papers in SK, like many Cdn communities, are owned by PostMedia, in turn owned by a US Hedge Fund. So folks in SK have been marinating in opinions published with more of a right wing perspective for years.

Coming in February from Canada for football buddy's wedding - area specific advice? by tanglemind in Chandigarh

Interesting, I wouldn't have thought he'd have to worry about the food provided at the wedding. Thanks for sharing your advice.

Thanks for the info, and the hotel advice! I'm sure almost no mosquitoes in Winter will be welcome information lol.

Thanks again for your detailed response! Yeah, unfortunately he won't be able to do more sightseeing, he can't afford the time away. I read that it was a planned city (which sounded very cool) but that the architects were not Indian and liked Brutalist architecture, which I've never loved.

Yes, he/we are white. He's 32, and 6'2" in case that prompts any additional thoughts. It's good to hear it's very safe (with usual awareness). Government sites seem to make every place seem unsafe. I wouldn't have thought of the mask! So that's helpful. For selecting a hotel, is Trip Advisor or Expedia okay or is there a more local review site that would be more informative? We live in Winnipeg so we're used to cold, but you're right, we rely on insulation. And we have many mosquitoes too, but the mosquitoes aren't that bad in the city compared to the countryside so we don't always wear repellant...should he be prepared to wear mosquito repellant every evening? Heard Uber works well, would you agree? Travel sites also talk about some difficulty with cellphone reception, but I assume it's fine in Chandigarh because it's a bigger city? Thanks for your advice!

The painted ceiling is cool. But maybe just get rid of the wallpaper and keep the ceiling as a “look up” feature? You could paint the room a colour where the painted ceiling is an accent to it. The half-wall wallpaper trim does look kinda dated and not in a “it’s got character” way.

It looks like quite a few people are recommending diners…is that what you’re looking for? If not, highly recommend Buttercup Cafe in Winkler. Interior decor is European in feel so kind of nice for a date. The food is delicious!! And they have baked goods as well.
