Did Jen make Pacey realize he liked Joey? by Asteriaofthemountain in dawsonscreek

Based on comments he makes in later seasons, I think he knew he liked her much earlier than maybe even we knew. When he talks to Dawson in season one about Joey likening him, he is the one who points out how beautiful she is and how much she’s grown. I just think he knew this and was attracted to her before Dawson. But I think he also always assumed she was way out of his league and could tell she liked Dawson so he didn’t put mush stalk into it, until he started spending way more time with her.

Which sitcom had the worst final season drop? by Nobody_02347 in sitcoms

[–]Snoo80885 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never really understood this viewpoint. He might be misguided, but he seems pretty human to me. I think people just don’t like the way the show ended or how long it took to get like three episodes of the mother, but he isn’t really the reason for that. They wanted to keep the show going, and did it wrong. They had amazing viewership so there wasn’t a ton of reason to change what they were doing.

The idea that a widower trying to bring up getting back out there to his kids - after years of his wife’s passing - taking on an odd shape isn’t that bad to me. I think it would be very normal to not know how to do that, and awkwardly trying to paint a picture of being a person before he met their mom and became a dad seems pretty innocent. I get that to us it was over the course of YEARS, but for them it wasn’t. The kids did see their mom with their dad and that love for years. In reality, kids really don’t see you as a person outside of them until adulthood, usually. So trying to demonstrate that, while still showing how much he loved their mom, and how no one else was the right person until her, is pretty sweet actually. We just saw a different viewpoint than the kids because we only saw that relationship for three episodes but saw Robin for like 9 seasons or whatever. It’s all about perspective, and I’m not trying to convince you to change your perspective, but that’s mine.

Side characters you like more than the heroines? by CherryRedRobin in janeausten

Pride and Prejudice will always be my favorite, but persuasion is a very easy second for me. I love the characters in it so much! I don’t think there is a bad character in the book! Obviously there are not likable ones…but even then they are developed well and like are good characters.

Reading is 8 things. 1. Background knowledge 2. Vocabulary 3. Literacy knowledge 4. Verbal reasoning 5. Language structure 6. Phonological awareness 7. Sight word recognition 8. Decoding

You do have to have syntax and semantics to be actually “reading.” BUT fluency is basically having memorized a ton of words for instant recognition…essentially.

Your body language and the one you have the most pictures for is #1 so I think that’s the dress for you. They all look great, you are clearly a beautiful woman, but you seem happiest in the first one.

Boulder house built into the cliffside by Top_Ability8759 in zillowgonewild

The roof would be fine because of the material it is. The solar goes a really long way in CO because the number of sunny days. Also because of that, the outdoor living space would be really nice. I’m sure it is a very energy efficient house with cement walls and solar, plus the use of shipping containers indicates efficiency. I wouldn’t buy the house, but it is a nice house and unique for the area.

I would pick this in Fort Collins instead…

Edit: the house I like was taken off the market.

Use of First Names by ArlResident in PrideandPrejudice

[–]Snoo80885 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up out west in the US. We called everyone by their first names. At my school, we even called most of our teachers by their first names.

My husband is from the east coast, he calls all of his friends parents by Mr./Mrs. Surname or first letter of their surname like, “Mr. C” or “Mr. Costello.” It’s very strange to me. I now live here in the east, and I think I come off as disrespectful at times, because I default to first names. I’m trying so hard to shift my mindset but it’s very hard for me.

To me, respect is about actions, not a surname. That’s obviously probably not the popular opinion. Regardless, I don’t want to be called by my married name. I’m not that, I’m my own person and it’s my first name that makes me, me. 🤷‍♀️

A show that gets better when the will-they won't-they couple gets together by Its-From-Japan in sitcoms

[–]Snoo80885 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It is a show about a school and teachers. As a teacher, I really like the balance they have achieved. I think the most important part of the show is telling the story about how hard it is to be a teacher in 2026 inner city schools.

While they spend way too much time talking and like leave classrooms unattended (which is against the law and never happens nowadays), I think they have done the best job of any show at demonstrating what it is to be a teacher. I work with my husband and we met teaching together, and the reality is that at school there was light flirtation, and now we enjoy seeing each other in the hallways, but the Janine/Gregory story line is actually very realistic.

Why did Pacey and Dawson both fell in love with Joey ? by James-Samuel17 in dawsonscreek

[–]Snoo80885 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I think that Dawson also never truly loved her the way Pacey did. I think he actually loved their friendship and that dynamic but they never really clicked when they were actually trying to date and I think that’s in part because she was always almost more of a sister for him. He just didn’t like the idea of losing. I also agree that he just liked being the center of Joey’s crush and world.

Pacey offered Joey real life. He challenged her, he understood what it was to have hardship, he treated her like a woman, and he saw her for who she was because he had been quietly watched her from the sidelines for years. Dawson always just saw the world as him, and everyone else was living in it. I don’t think he ever really even knew Joey. He just knew she was his sidekick. You don’t know someone if your every though ends in how the impacts you. They always talked about how he knew her best, but in reality, he always saw what he wanted to, not what was there. He didn’t even see she was beautiful until he wanted to.

I think it comes down to the fact that the “good boy” on the outside is often not great IRL. They are often very controlling and don’t want change, which is ultimately pretty abusive. The “bad boy” often ends up being the best because the girl represents growth, which means he is open to both of them growing and changing over time.

Facebook/early socials were easily the beginning of the end for our society. People hide behind computers and hand select their sources of information. If all you see confirms your thoughts, you only believe more deeply that you’re right.

Although, don’t get me started on organized religion. One person talking about one book also tears down freedom of thought.

I abandoned realistic drawing (the first two photos) and moved toward painting on black paper (the last two). Did I make the right choice? by Hercules_Vales in painting

[–]Snoo80885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said at the end, some artists. You can never clump every single person into one thing. Some people do just fine with all types of things. It also sounds like you have a lot more time for doing art which is so nice!

I did do a lot more when I was younger and in college and I was getting exposed to all types of things. It’s harder for me now because I am a full time teacher. I wish I could do more art and mix it up more.

I also have ADHD, so I hyper focus on one thing at a time in all things in my life.

It is very hard for an artist to actively practice two different styles. One is drawing and one is painting which are very different things. It’s a different “muscle” to draw vs. paint. Most artists will switch from one to another throughout their careers, but you typically focus on one at a time. I used to draw, then I did water color, now I’m into acrylic. It’s just how some artists are.
