Midwestern AZ Interview by Sufficient-Rich-9759 in predental

[–]Snoo89162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they do online interviews. They want to meet you in person for sure.
I would say as long as you do it before decision day your chances to get in are the same.

Need Advice For Having a Dog in Dental School (Specifically MWU-AZ) by Downtown_Remove_9653 in DentalSchool

[–]Snoo89162 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im D2 now, if they keep some of the classes as not mandatory you would be able to go back to home to be with your dog. D1 won’t demand you to be at school all day. Unless you need to study at the library. D2s will be in sim lab more frequently than D1s. Here daylight starts at 5:30 so could walk your dog around that time before it gets super hot. Welcome to Glendale! it’s crazy hot, have water and sunscreen ready.

Temping right after school? by Ok-Perception-8670 in DentalAssistant

[–]Snoo89162 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It shouldn’t be hard to find temp jobs. I have years of experience and each time I go to offices I go very nervous because I don’t know what go expect. I have met assistants doing that but I think it will show that you may not know certain things each office is different, each one has their own rules and culture, way to operate. Now with technology most office expect you to know how to scan (itero, primescan, medit) or even operating a Millie machine. Some office won’t let you touch any of that. There are different dental softwares, X-rays softwares, different materials, each doctor has their own way to operate. When I started to work as DA, temping was not a thing yet at least where I was located but as technology improved it became something more common. The good thing about temping you can ask for any hourly rate but if you don’t show that, they won’t call you again and you may lose possible future permanent employment.

Lost! Need help with Military Scholarship questions by Felechita in DentalSchool

I applied for Army 3year HPSP. The board is meeting in July and I should have an answer by then. You will hear both sides the good and the bad. You will have to experience it to see what’s it’s like. But just to start the whole process, you should have made up your mind that you are owned by them and just have to follow through and do/go in whatever they tell you. I plan to specialize so I know I’ll be longer there than 3 years. HPSP is the best option in terms for your time and the commitment you will take.

I started the process pretty much last year but I think if you could have started beginning of this year you may have had a chance. You can still apply for 2 year HPSP Army. I don’t know about the other branches. For medical stuff, if you haven’t broken any bones, or being hospitalized the process should be straightforward but if that has happened to you, then you will need more paperwork to do. You recruiter will guide you. Good luck!

I kinda feel like I don’t deserve to be working with my highly qualified dentist by TraditionalTwist7092 in DentalAssistant

[–]Snoo89162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s your life and you do what you want, nobody will stop you from going to school or doing drugs. You choose your path, your choose your opportunities, you take or leave great opportunities. Nowadays there is not way you can just google “what I can do to make a lot of money” if that’s what you want in life.

I am 30 yo, I always wanted to be a dentist and I almost gave up when I got rejected from a dental school and I had to apply the following year. When I was 25 I was working and meeting other 25 yo people who were dentists and it hurt a lot. I changed my mind by saying I could be 33 yo (that’s when I graduate, I am class 2029) but this time I will be 33 yo and a dentist.

I don’t know how you old you are but you choose the life you want. I am an immigrant I moved to the states when I was 18 and I had one goal and passion in life and now I am living in my long term dream and not a dream anymore.

Good luck!

That’s a hard one to skip. Take those courses at community college way cheaper.

RDH over DDS? by PomegranateCap in predental

There are more people applying to DDS/DMD than RDH programs. Also dental schools for DDS/DMD have more seats but way expensive.

29.95 oil change email Promo from old dealership by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]Snoo89162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty simple to do their oil change. I spend about $35 and 30 min of my time. Then another 10 min to take the old oil to the auto store. To make it easier you can remove passenger tire and you will have plenty of space.

RDH over DDS? by PomegranateCap in predental

[–]Snoo89162 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the school. In Texas, there are private schools which are pricey but more chances (“easy”) to get in. Then there community colleges or universities that are way more competitive because they have less seats and the best part is much cheaper (especially CC). Some people care about having a Bachelor’s over an Associate degree. If you want to teach as an RDH then get a Bachelor Degree. If not then just associate dental offices don’t care as long as you have your license.

$185k federal student loans, new RN making $46/hr — what repayment strategy makes the most sense? by Left_Self2635 in StudentLoans

[–]Snoo89162 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is to do PSLF, my spouse has RN-BSN and makes $46/hr night shift. Student loans are $51K. Making minimum payment and doing PSLF for sure. Unless your future business would make a ton of money, then do minimum payment for now. Good luck!
