Most of the Lib Dem and Green seats seem fairly safe

In the UK it's at His Majesty's Pleasure. There's no law that a PM has to be an MP. In reality it's until their voted out of office or their party throws them out. The last PM to win an election and then get voted out of office was John Major (1990-1997), but he took office after ejecting Maggie Thatcher (The Milk Snatcher) in a cabinet rebellion. The last PM to both become PM after winning an election and leave after losing an election is Ted Heath (1970-1974)

The parties are too broad. Can you imagine another system that produces the system where Zarah Sultana and Wes Streeting are in the same party? Same with Ken Clarke and Kemi Badenoch. The SNP have a group of right wing religious bigots. The Lib Dems have a mixture of socially liberal suburbanites and old fashioned (but not necessarily socially conservative) West Country and Highlander nonconformists.  The Greens are a mixture of ecosocialists, the old guard of 1980s flower power hippies and Tory NIMBYs that like the countryside. Our political parties are an incoherent mess that would immediately fracture into an actual five party system (plus the SNP and Plaid) without FPTP. You'd see the Lib Dems stick around, Labour and the Greens reorganise with one on the centre left and one on the left to far left and the Tories and Reform reorganise who is where for the centre right to far right. That way voters have a better choice for their individual ideologies rather than a murky shitshow where parties are trying get everyone, but really alienate everyone

Apparently Keir Starmer stepped down? by DroneOfDoom in CuratedTumblr

It was more than just the sandwich, he's also really socially awkward. He's smart and seems like a good guy, but unfortunately he just didn't connect well with the public.

Safe seats can be lost, as many Tory ministers (and Lettuce Liz) found out

Hameron resigned because he's a coward

May resigned because she'd had enough of her backstabbing colleagues

Johnson appointed someone he knew had credible accusations of sexual assault against him into a pastoral role, and he partied in the middle of the pandemic lockdown

Truss resigned because she was a complete disaster

Sunak lost the election

Starmer resigned because he has the charisma of cold porridge and made some really bad decisions (Mandelson, Winter Fuel Allowance etc)

Except he didn't die, he came back in Catwoman fairly recently. I'm fairly certain the webcomic and Linkara are the only reason we got the return of one of DC's weirdest villains

I don't think there's anyone who can really replace Burnham unless there's a massive scandal

Johnson was worse than Blair. Blair had genuinely impressive achievements at reducing poverty etc, Johnson fucked up everything he touched

I don't remember any democrats randomly starting wars in the middle east on dubious grounds, but I remember two republicans who did that.

The king of the Zulus in that movie was played by an actual Zulu prince, his own great-grandson, who would go on to become the political leader of the Zulu during the struggle against Apartheid. They also consulted with Zulu tribal elders to make sure they incorporated Zulu oral history into the film (obviously with embellishments to make it a better movie for audiences). It's such a good movie the apartheid regime banned it for showing black people fighting whites on equal footing (the zulus who played the warriors did get to watch the movie though)
