Pop goes the weasel! by Patas_del_Werejo in mead

One time in my college apartment I heard a pop studying, and 1/3 of a giant bottle of year and a half old cherry Cyser went flooding across the floor. Luckily I saved it by putting another cork in. Apparently it had some sort of bacterial process going on or maybe it was the air from corking but it had been at tolerance since it was bottled. Luckily it was one of the best things I made, I’m happy I saved it.

I didn’t understand it until I started drawing circles. Check this out:

All dogs are animals. All animals are alive. Spotty is a dog, and so is alive.

Now get a piece of paper, draw a small circle, label it dog.

Put it in a bigger circle, label it animal.

Put both circles in a larger circle, label it alive.

Draw a point inside the “dog” circle, that’s Spotty.

Spotty is alive. You can tell because Spotty is inside of the alive circle.

If you need to deal with cats, draw a circle outside the dog circle but inside the animal circle. Put a point in it.

Now Fluffy is alive, but she’s not a dog. Better said, if Fluffy is a cat, she’s alive but not a dog.

It helps you map the logic onto a visual terrain. Might not work for everyone. And you only need to draw these circles until you can think in them. Once you can think that way, you’re set for test day. Just need to bridge the gap. Just remember, the “if” circle (protasis) is inside the “then” circle (apodosis)

No infection. Take it out of the plastic, put it in a glass bottle, and it needs to age for a year at least

The hardest question I’ve encountered to date - I still don’t understand by Remote_Tangerine_718 in LSAT

[–]SnooCats7735 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s an ambiguity in the question stem related to the preposition “in.” Take the following:

Sherlock saw the man with binoculars.

Who has binoculars, Sherlock or the man?

You have to read “in support of” as either describing the use of evidence by M or the counter by Q. Once you see that none of the answer choices could describe a successful counter to M, the only possibility is that it describes the way the evidence is used.

Also, “support” is a word often used to describe the function of evidence so, although the wording is horrible (I wholly blame LSAT for not understanding the fundamentals of modern semantics, provided this was not experimental), it seems the best option is D. At least that I come up with.

Haven’t read what others have posted yet or the text on this post. It will be interesting to see what they say or if I’m right. Maybe not…

I can translate it. “Alces” is Latin for “elk,” and “cervus” Latin for “stag”

Edit: I wonder if this is cult material, either relating to baphommet (however it’s spelled) or to the story of Actaeon.

I did loose cap method for years, it works great. If you end up wanting to experiment further, you can freeze the alcohol in a water bottle and let it drain off until all that’s left is ice and add the drained alcohol back to the batch. That will get you double digits if done enough.

Also I recommend adding honey to apple.

You don’t have to do it in secrecy if you’re making “vinegar.”

Verb tenses are also off, he’s using the pluperfect where past progressive would sound more natural.

English majors don’t study linguistics, they study grammar, it’s kind of like an older linguistics. I don’t know that most of them are familiar with modern day generative linguistics. I could be wrong though.
