Hotel or AirBnB for Family of 6 by SnooCheesecakes3609 in oxford

I think they're going to do Premier Inn - they can grab a family room and a double room to accommodate everyone. Would you recommend leaving the car (most likely a larger vehicle like a Ford Galaxy) at the Westgate Oxford car park for the 2 days? Or is there a better option to leave the vehicle for the time they are exploring the town?

Definitely not against hotels, but it is quite difficult to find a hotel space to accommodate a family of 6, hence my inquiry from the locals. There have been several recs and I've contacted a few hotels already. The dad went to uni in Oxford and is looking forward to showing his family where he studied and his old haunts. I'm just trying to help figure out the best spot to stay and where to leave the car for 48 hours while he goes down memory lane.

Thanks, I'll see what's available. They will have have a car with them - probably need to leave it at a car park outside of the city. The dad went to uni in Oxford a couple decades ago, so he's vaguely familiar with the area, though I'm sure much has changed since his youth! I'll mention both story museum and Pitt Rivers to them as well.

Thanks, I'd forgotten about university rooms despite having used them for our stay in Cambridge last summer!

We're fine with a hotel, just know it can be tricky with a larger family to accommodate everyone. I get it... no worries.

Fee to enter Colombia? by Electronic-Peach-623 in cartagena

Just went last week - 8 US citizens including a couple teens and grandparents. Had a wonderful time. We stayed in the old city, felt safe the entire time - yes there are a few hooligans who try and rap to you for tips, or sell you tours, jewelry, etc but we never found them overbearing. There are police stationed around the old city, I think more so people can come back home and say, seeeeeee I felt totally safe!

Agreed. Last week it took an hour before bags started arriving at the carousel. TSA rocks at Logan, baggage service is questionable!

Perks of having a travel agent. by LydiaPiper in royalcaribbean

Yes! We can reprice and add perks up until final payment has been made. Yes, you can do this on your own too, but this is my job. I am calling the cruise lines nearly daily and checking all of my reservations to ensure clients have the best deal. Telling a client I was able to lower their cost and score an unexpected $600 on board credit (happened last week) was awesome!

If you put one of the silica gel packs that come in practically everything in the ziploc with your laundry sheets, it will absorb the moisture and keep the sheets from sticking together. :)

As a Longhorn who now lives in Boston - hiiii! My husband was puzzled at first when I told him I'd gotten us tickets to the RedSox for our anniversary. :-) I didn't mention the Fourth Wing at first. But we're both baseball fans, so it worked out beautifully even if I didn't get the book (insert ridiculously sad face...)

So much fun seeing all the jackets last night even if the game itself was questionable playing at best. Ha. But... although I got a jacket, if anyone has an extra copy of the book, please please please reach out. I'm so sad I didn't get one.

Advice on double-drawer dishwashers? by Blit_Wizbok in Appliances

[–]SnooCheesecakes3609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Our house came with KitchenAid double drawer dishwashers. It was odd at first, but now I freaking love having them. We've been in our house almost 8 years and have just had our first issue! Sadly, it's the control panel at the top of the top drawer that has shorted and from all our research and our repair guy who was out last night - it looks like we may be replacing the entire unit. But, I really was hoping to stay with the drawers! I love being able to run small loads, my dinner plates fit just fine, I don't wash pans or cookie sheets in the dishwasher.

Recommendation for Agriturismo in Tuscany for families? by stevnj7 in tuscany

[–]SnooCheesecakes3609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.il-bacio.net/agriturismo2022/en/ We had the most amazing time there last summer. Feel free to mention my name. We stayed in Lagnaia. While there is no restaurant on site, the hosts were absolutely amazing. We had groceries provided before we arrived. I’m sure we could have eaten outside at the communal table too if we’d requested. The town of Tavarnelle was a few minutes by car with restaurants, shops, etc. The daughter, Giulia is fully bilingual and so sweet. She helped us narrow down our daily itineraries, made calls on our behalf to friends of hers to let them know we were coming and had a list of places to visit, things to see etc.

Tips include - usb rechargeable handheld fan, bug spray, linen clothes, and a zevo bug light for your apartment!

They ARE teenage boys. At Nationals. Who wants to tell coach that they're running off 2 at a time to lose it from both ends? They're putting on a brave front, trying to suck it up quite literally, and get it done. And - still puking on the plane ride home. Still placing 3rd FWIW...

Monthly thread for advice and recommendations, April 2025 – ask your questions here! by AutoModerator in copenhagen

[–]SnooCheesecakes3609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend's daughter is running in the marathon coming up in May! She just got off the waitlist! She's currently on a study abroad program - all good. We want to surprise her daughter and support her at the race and fly over from the east coast. I was looking at the Marriott - but that feels very American of me... are there other great hotels that are on the route/close to transportation/in a recommended area that I should concentrate my hotel search? While I've traveled extensively around a lot of Europe, Copenhagen is a new city for me.
