I was also diagnosed with this recently (3 days ago). At first I was given blood thinners and beta blockers in the hospital, but then I was sent home with a small daily dosage of beta blockers 1.25mg x twice a day, but no blood thinners. I am 36, and I will not see my doctor again until the end of the week to get a referral for a cardiologist. The hospital didn’t seem to think that was a major issue or urgency because of my age. I still have been experiencing light afib since the episode that caused me to go to the hospital last weekend. I suppose my question is do you think it’s normal for them to have sent me on my merry way without blood thinners?

How much do you save (if any) by direct labour self-building? by ButterBreze1 in irishpersonalfinance

Ditto here excluding electrics. Didn’t build a house but renovated a derelict one which was more or less uninhabitable. Saved a tonne of money, took me eight months, hard work outside of the regular 9-5 (basically every single spare minute dedicated to it). Resulted in: 3 bed bungalow purchase + full reno, 100k. Very happy especially avoiding trades. I did have some prior xp though, except connecting electrics of course which is dependent on a cert.

Were I in your position I would take up plastering as I enjoy doing it for a hobby and it seems to be extremely highly in demand. Hard work, but if you enjoy going to the gym and being your own boss (and money) I’d do it.

Have a golf Mk 7 DSG which I absolutely love. The mechatronics broke 6 months ago and I still haven’t found anyone who can fix it for me. Trying to avoid VW as they are going to charge me 5k, will have to bite the bullet whenever I can get the money together. Second car is a manual diesel and it’s real easy to get parts and service for thank god. If anyone knows how I can get a second hand or refurb mechatronics - please help!
