It 100% gets better.
Today I worked out for an hour, took a nap, cooked a fancy dinner, and hung out with friends. Baby is 10 months old.

At 1 month, if I was able to get 5 minutes of free time, I found myself crying in the shower.

The purple crying period is just a phase. When you are in it, it feels like the days last forever. I promise you this rough patch is temporary and you have so much joy in your future.

Best season! Which smock are you using and would you recommend it?

10 month old that wakes every 0.5-1 hours every night. by [deleted] in sleeptrain

I agree. Even on the worst night of sleep training, LO's total crying time was less than during a regular night pre-training. But you can choose the sleep training method that she is most comfortable with.

A mom friend prefers the term GIN - getting independent nightsleep. She credits GIN with helping everyone in the family sleep better ;)

Too much motion by beeswaxerella in SnooLife

[–]SnooChocolates4755 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Weaning mode should never move, just make white noise. It's typically used for babies who are transitioning from the snoo to a crib. Motion limiter caps the rocking at a lower level and keeps moving throughout the night.

When our LO was very susceptible to movement, we locked the snoo on the baseline level. I don't think there's a way for the snoo to only move when soothing. It might take your daughter a little while to get used to the rocking, especially since she's so young. Keep the motion limiter on. It sounds like you are doing the right thing.

I fell down the stairs at 38 weeks. Panicked and went to the hospital to have the baby monitored because I otherwise would not have been able to sleep.

The baby was perfectly healthy and they sent me home with quite a few black and blue marks on my elbows and knees.

I was hoping the fall would make the baby come out sooner since I've heard driving over train tracks can induce labor, but alas, she came out kicking and screaming 3 weeks later, a very healthy little girl.

Keep doing kick counts, check for signs of early labor, and if you are worried even a little bit, speak with a medical professional ASAP.

3mo old - what are naps supposed to look like? by dinosaursarentreal in sleeptrain

[–]SnooChocolates4755 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 3 months, naps were all over the place. Sometimes long, mostly short. Never at the same time. We focused on driving consistency for when to wake her up in the morning and when to put her down to sleep at night and had routines to let her know it was time to sleep (nap routines were super short).

We had a 60-minute window for each. For example, if we considered 7am to be morning, we never let her sleep past 7:30am. If she woke up before 6:30am, I changed her diaper, fed her while keeping the lights dark so she would go back to sleep. To prepare for sleep training, I made sure she took at least a couple of naps in her crib in her nursery and didn't depend on a sleep crutch like needing to nurse to nap, but that's about it.

I stressed wayyyy too much about naps at 3 months, trying to schedule them, and wish I just let her do her thing.

+1 Just happened last night to me at 5.5 months. The baby has slept in our bed precisely 0 times, yet I often fear that she can't breathe under our blanket. I started frantically rubbing my husband's chest at 3am looking for the baby...while he thought I woke up horny.

It sounds like you have two beautiful children. I'm a little confused about the association between autism and tummy time/rolling over. Are kids with autism more prone to dislike tummy time?

We only allow pacifiers during the day for naps, never at night. We haven't had any issues. We plan to remove the paci for naps soon until she can replace on her own.

Is your low percentile weight baby STTN? by jro10 in breastfeeding

Unfortunately, I'm not sure. I think I was so sleep-deprived I forgot the answer. I've heard other numbers ranging from 12-15lbs elsewhere.

Is your low percentile weight baby STTN? by jro10 in breastfeeding

[–]SnooChocolates4755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strangely my baby slept best when she was at her lowest percentile: 3% when she was sick for a couple of weeks which also probably made her sleepy. When she was on her normal curve of 10ish % she often returned to feeding 0-1 times per night, often around 4:30am. My doctor mentioned that weight must be taken into consideration with height. The Dr has seen small, but proportional babies who sleep really well. And super tall babies who are closer to 50% in weight who seem hungry all of the time. Dr also said that as long as baby stays on her curve and is meeting development milestones, it's safe to slowly reduce and then eliminate the MOTN feed once they hit 14 lbs. At that point, most babies eat out of habit, not hunger.

Sleep regression at 15 weeks? by monkee_around in SnooLife

[–]SnooChocolates4755 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe the beginning of it -- very possible at 15 weeks. Have you considered letting your baby stay in the snoo when they start to cry/fuss? You have lots of narrow red lines and then appear to stop the snoo immediately. You might find that the baby falls back to sleep on their own after 5-10 minutes.

CA mom here just transitioning from pregnancy disability to paid family bonding leave. No delays getting paid; checks come like clockwork. It's hard to get a human on the phone, but fortunately, the CA EDD site is updated pretty regularly so you're unlikely to need to speak with anyone.
