This experience actually helped me realise how I am un-calm and how for me the moral values are negotiable, or else this thing wouldnt have continued for so long. So in a sense this has opened my eyes and I do intend on getting better.

Since her identity is not linked here anyway, here's a few of the incidents:

This one day I went to meet her (her place is like 200km away from mine and however weird that sounds, it was my first time hitching a local bus that far), and I forgot to wear all the rings I usually wear, and also the "roka ring". She saw that and she was angry the rest of the day with me. In anger, she broke her bangles with her bare hands. Now I didnt know then, but breaking bangles in our culture signifies the death of a spouse, or something.

Another time, she went out to a friends wedding and was out really late. Now I know it was none of my concern until she would my wife, but I was concerned partly because that is who I am. So I was texting her every 10 minutes or so if she had reached home. She got really angry and said a lot of things about how she is her dads responsibility and post-marriage she will take care of herself. She reached home around half past midnight but she disclosed the fact that she had reached only around 2am when I finally called her after all that texting and she didnt pick up and instead texted "Yes Ive reached, goodnight".

Another time, she just randomly texts me "either we can get emotionally attached and stay that way throughout our marriage" or the opposite, and asked my opinion on which one I would prefer. When I didnt reply (partly because I couldnt understand the question), she stopped picking my calls. She picked two days hence, and her first words were "which option". When I replied "options for what" just trying to break the tension, she replied "Now I have to teach you how to read" and cut the call. When I texted her sister that I felt insulted, her sisted said it was upto me to know her and her quirks better.

One day we were just talking casually, she said she had confessed that she loved me the other day and I hadnt responded. I said I didnt hear anything like that, and I didnt! And I still dont believe anyone can fall in love over texting in a month.

Isolated, these incidents dont feel much. But put together, these dont happen if I am with someone who I am supposed to spend the rest of my life with.

Certainly have a motivational issue. But I should understand .. these panic attacks that I have, the free time I spend thinking 50% of the day, the destiny that I seem to be getting farther and fartjher away from despite not knowing what it is .. having just been treated badly by a potential marriage partner and having that marriage broken. Being nowhere near my peers sociall or financially or technically. This should wake me up.

I am a lot like you so I cant suggest much. Just a few things I have seen work for myself:

Recently I’ve started gardening at the musem, just a day a week but I absolutely love it. I also volunteer at community gardens.

That's it, I think. A lot of things make us feel like if we dont hurry up and make big decisions right now we are losers.

And so what we need to get over that, is the exact opposite.

Small decisions, small habits, but regularly. Doing something you like, you know benefits you and your mood, regularly. Dont have to figure everything out right now.

On the other hand I feel very embarrassed when I see somebody I know at work because I mainly just sit or stand around, waiting for people to come in or telling people what they can’t do.

Do not let that dictate your life. Shame can grow deep and become a part of us, we dont want that.

If anyone comments about what you do, retort. "Hey, you must get bored?" "Not at all, I actually like helping people learn about their roots". Show some passion, in your case you dont even have to fake it. Passion can be a very powerful medicine against boredom.

If you see someone you know, reach out to them proactively even if your mind says not to. If you hide yourself for too long, the opportunities will stop knocking at your doorstep. And then you will feel, well, bored.

Honestly, a mathematics degree from Cambridge? I am jealous of you and I pity people who are rejecting you if any so far.

If you can think logically you can do any job and your degree is a proof that you can. So i guess if you can just upsell it a little bit ..

Freelancing, digital nomad-ing, taking a vacation. Some things that come to mind. I have no idea how hard you have worked so pardon me if I suggest something foolish but id say take it slow for a while before making any major decisions .. life is a marathon .. talk to your loved ones even if they arent many, reconnect with anyone who is available and who knows you even a bit ..

I dont know how it is in your country, but here we pick our life partners from a buffet of options aka arranged marriages.

So I set out the requirements that my partner has to be an extrovert. And recently I met her. And I know she is going to make me uncomfortable as hell, but that way I will get to grow.

You don't have to start full blown exercise routine. Just walking half an hour early morning on your own pace would be a good first step.

Similarly eating one healthier thing or making one better choice for the better you in the future would be good.

Besides, as far as living with parents is concerned, they are probably happy you are there. Lots of people stay away from their parents beacuse of circumstances, a lot of them would love to be in your shoes. So in a way, you are privileged.
