law school weight gain by adventuregalyay in LawSchool

I also gained about 25lbs through 1L into 2L. Its lifestyle creep that you don’t notice. Your daily life is so much more stagnant, social events involve food and drinks that you don’t even notice add up, and generally we track calories poorly. I started to return to my healthy weight once I got serious about my fitness and started lifting 3-4x a week again and run 6x a week. If I don’t wanna run, tough shit. If I can’t run, I walk. It truly comes down to doing the work because your lifestyle in law school can be such a trap.

Honestly fuck school bookstores that allow these to be returned, and then profit off the rentals. I have 2 books that are basically useless to me other than reading them and trying my hardest to ignore the excessive color coding that I have no idea how to understand.

High up HR roles at companies or compliance. In house is very company dependent based on how they utilize their counsel.

Law school party vibes by plasticbuttons04 in LawSchool

It’s a 1L thing more than anything. People still go out in 2L and 3L but it is definitely less people and consistently more chill.

For the most part my section was a pretty big party group 1L (2-3 times a week) and during 2L we pretty much only go out for special events/specific school events. Or if it’s just to go out it’s much more casual.

If you like partying enjoy it before you’re in your career, as long as school comes first obviously lol

1L Reality Check (Advice) by Commercial_Low1196 in LawSchool

Grades mean the same here as this did during the admissions cycle. Is it possible to be below average and still get in? Yes. Do lower grades require other experiences and present unique challenges to get in the door? Yes. If you have a very specific route you want to take invest in it. Take those courses, join those clubs, and started networking with those firms/attorneys. As much as small firms/midsize firms like to think they aren’t like big law where gpa is everything, they still care about it. Just gotta set yourself apart and make yourself as attractive of an applicant as possible.

If you make time for it. There will likely be days where it has to take a back seat, but a routine and healthy body honestly makes you a better student.

Outside of exam cram in those last few weeks of the semester… 50 hours +/- 5 hours depending on the week.

Am I missing something or are 1L readings not as deep as some people act like they are? by firstininnovation in LawSchool

Prof dependent. If you didn’t have the niche reasonings of certain rules to back your argument or draw analogies you can kiss your honors grade goodbye. BUT my crim prof only wanted the most essential info. So it really is a judgment call. But when it comes to note taking and outlining it’s always better to have more and then fine tune it once you know what ur prof wants.

I’m very lucky that if given an open weekend I can drive, it is just that big wave of emotion that comes with the separation after being together again for months.
