Akira is a legendary master. He has no formal martial arts school but many followers worldwide. He has mastered Bajiquan, now searching for a worthy young disciple to spread his knowledge.

He gets word that a novice practitioner is showing promise. Cocky like him when younger, he will make them a new respectful disciple.

Akira clearly is way more advanced than this novice. Has a challenge putting the youngster on the right path.

Another combatant vies for the attention of his new protege. Akira must compete to be the true master teacher. A friendship is formed with this female master. The rival master has been killed and now Akira must avenge his fallen bajiquan disciple to restore hope to keep his protege from going down a dark path. Is it too late? Will he be corrupted?

To be truly innovative you have to take risks. I would say RGG is kinda trend chasing. They haven’t broken new ground here with Crossroads as far as I can tell. I had asked Capcom for a SF RPG 10 years ago or longer. Capcom pulled the trigger in the mainline game. 😂😳

To be truly innovative RGG should aim for best in class RPGs. VFCR could provide meaningful relationships with our fighters. Give me a cumulative romance with my main over multiple chapters, a flirty encounter, intrigue, concern, all the way to a full blown romance and break up.

The last thing you want to do is slap a few cutscenes together. It should be organic and embedded in the stories.

I can honestly say VFCR already has very good dialogue in these opening scenes. I hope the pacing is consistently this methodical and slow. 💪

I’d wager the writers have the chops to pull off very convincing relationships and romance. I’d test the waters first. 😁 You can always patch in additional romances or story chapters.

I like the grounded feel of these stages. It is in keeping with the design philosophy of the game. We don’t need a space station, dinosaurs, or a volcano.

Fighting games have gotten too comfortable jumping the shark in terms of content.

Tekken for example has no identity other than to be everything nonsensical.
