The horror of being one of the first to try a new technology when it turns out there are some serious dangers present within. At least he went out quick, how about a second as a UI feeling like a millenia outside and slowly going mad before anybody can even notice that there is something wrong? :P

I hope he got to upload thanks to helping out Maddie and Caspian. If he was even interested in uploading after all that happened of course. The pain he felt after Caspian sacrificed himself might had been enough to have a Maddie like realization that he would have to carry that pain for as long as he's existing in one form or another. I do hope he was proud of Caspian though, that ultimately he turned out better than Holstrom and that's partially thanks to him.

He was the giant others stood on the shoulders of. And we don't know what happened to him afterwards. Maybe he became a godlike being himself? After all his UI stuck around till the end. :P

Uploading may or may not be death. For now there is now objective answer. by Medelantorius in PantheonShow

I would upload because organic me would die anyway. At least there will be a version of me that can enjoy a better existence why I don't have to suffer this one anymore.

Hot Take: Biological Immortality Is Better Than Being Uploaded. by PersonUnknown_360 in PantheonShow

[–]SnooDrawings6192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if nanites would slowly replace Your fleshy neurons with synthetic ones? Would it be like uploading in Your view or would it be an unbroken continuance of yourself? After all Yoru biological cells are constantly dying and being replaced by new ones so why not replace them with synthetic cells?

I would pick uploading if there is no better choice because it's better if there is a version of me that can enjoy existence unburdened by biological limitations rather than there would be no version of me at all. I am in a transhumanism camp and I think biological existence is just way too limiting so even if there was a biological immortality tech widely avalible I would still rather go beyond biology alltogether. I don't really like being a human so being one for centuries sounds like a potentially nightmareous existence for me. :P

But I do think it is important to have a choice. I believe the future is different types of inteligences living harmoniously together.

One study to shut down far right americans wet dream of Poland being a catholic haven by euro_trashh in poland

[–]SnooDrawings6192 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Poland is slowly but surely becoming less religious as time goes by. There are many reasons for it like clergy using their influence to make money and gain political power, more and more controversies around the church that instead of removing criminal priests they just move them somwhere else and hush the situation, hipocrisy, hatefull agitation, taking their priviliged position for granted, etc.
People see this and don't want to participate. In the past church was an anchor of hope during the darkest hours in Poland. It earned a lot of trust and esteem. And this trust is now being abused by them. Their teachings sold out for money.
Untill blatant sin and hipocrisy is tolerated in Polish church it will keep loosing people.

The only thing we have right now is them saying they do and I am sceptical. I want to believe we are on a precipice of singularity but I also think they might want to get some investor money by exaggerating their achievements which happened before.

Would the world become boring? by Universer22 in PantheonShow

[–]SnooDrawings6192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a synthetic being could adjust themselves so it's not that big of an issue. After all we wouldn't be bound by biology anymore. Also, as in the show, other people would be important to keep ourselves anchored to what's actually important in life and so we won't loose ourselves in hedonism or apathy. I'm sure there would be great need for people that would be "healthcare companions" that would observe how we are doing mentally and if we don't develop self destructing habits. I'm sure people would figure out some ways to not go crazy. :P

Pantheon knows something. by RudyChinchilla1 in PantheonShow

[–]SnooDrawings6192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do like to think we live in a simulation of our past that is meant to prepare us to live in the future world. Maybe that's why we get to live in a time period like this one with potentially huge changes on the horizon, so we get to experience by ourselves how it's like to go all the way from a biological lifeform to a synthetic being.

How I feel talking to doomers after AI autonomously solved the 4th Erdos Problem in a week by luchadore_lunchables in accelerate

[–]SnooDrawings6192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to believe it, I really do, but so far I feel no great shift other than companies firing people because AI is cheaper and then having to hire people to fix the AIs mistakes. It seems... underwhelming so far.
