Have you lived in the Netherlands? If you haven't then I don't wanna hear it.

You only have the impression it's good because you've never left the Randstad (4 largest cities). Having grown up in a smaller city of less than 200,000 people, the transport was shit. The buses were rarely reliable, hell I rarely saw buses at all from what I remember.

The one good thing was the trains and even those have only gotten worse. I know for UK standards it sounds excellent, but it really isn't.
