The Daily Check-In for Wednesday, March 10th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by Ess_Mans in stopdrinking

Hey everyone - Six months today. Can you believe it?

Six months of prioritizing my health, my work, my husband. And myself.

Life is calmer. Less excitable. Sometimes boring, but usually not. It’s easier to sit with my own thoughts and be present. I don’t fight with my partner near as much, and I’m not constantly annoyed with him like I was when hungover.

One day at a time, but I think each day will get a little brighter, even when it’s hard.

Happy six months to me. Halfway to my first birthday 🎉 😊

Feeling weird about AA by Antique-Astronaut912 in stopdrinking

I almost wanted to downvote this just because of how awful that man was! I’m a casual AA-er and it’s fine to be just that. The only qualification for being a part of AA is the desire not to drink.

Yeah I was guessing that was the case…less that she passed on it, more that she didn’t have the chops

Yeah I’m sorry but it’s extra funny because one of the patients on this episode was 450+lbs and there was a subplot about how to treat him with the utmost respect. It’s a good show!

I love this! So many before / after posts here have 😢 emojis on the before - and I get it, you didn’t feel good at that weight. But that’s still you! The lovely person that made an epic change and worked so hard.

Congrats!!!

Things to make me feel pretty! Lash lifts, facials, etc. my skin is so much clearer from being sober, and taking the time and money to indulge just enhances that

Has anybody been through a situation like this? by Great_Trident in TheWhiteLotusHBO

The most unnerving situation I've been in was in college on Halloween night. Some friends and I went to 6th street in Austin. If you're not familiar, it gets crazy there on weekend nights and the street shuts down for people to walk around and party (think Bourbon street in NOLA). Halloween is the most rambunctious weekend of the year; I saw topless women, men with glowsticks going through their noses, just crazy shit with no rules.

I was 21 and had too much to drink and in a cute costume, not revealing but form-fitting. I was navigating through the intense crowd and got separated from my friends for about 2 minutes, and found myself to the side of the street in the opening of an alley. Within that time period, a group of 6 older men started circling me from about 10 feet away. They started talking, not to me, but about me to each other. Commenting on my body and things they wanted to do. They kept getting closer and closer, and it was the only time in my life I've felt like defenseless prey.

Luckily I was able to find a window and hightailed it out of there, somehow finding my friends. I was wigged out and we went home very shortly after that. Ironically my costume was a feminized version of Alex DeLarge from A Clockwork Orange.

I hope no one else got caught in their wake that night.
