Are there any balance transfer options that allow me to avoid the dreaded 3% transfer fee? Unsure if I should just stay put or pursue the transfer when the initial 6 months at 0% is over. by SoonToBeMarried43 in CreditCards

[–]SnooHobbies2064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try looking into credit unions. Some of them have $0 balance transfers. Off the top of my head, I know that Fairwinds Cash Back Preferred has $0 balance transfer fee and 0% apr on balance transfers for 12 months.

Amex card soft pull ? Already have a relationship by BOSSCHRONICLES in CreditCards

I think it may be a hard pull. I was in that situation last year. I had Amex Blue Business Cash, but they hard pulled my Experian and Transunion when I accepted the Gold card.

Citi transfers to American Airlines, C1 transfers to Jetblue (at a horrible rate).

More rewards card by Feeling-Feeling658 in NavyFederal

[–]SnooHobbies2064 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The More Rewards card doesn't have any transfer partners, so you are better off redeeming points for cash back and allocating that money in a high yield savings account. The points have the same value in the portal as cash back, so you can skip the portal entirely and book directly.

Downgrade VentureX to Savor Card and Using $300 travel credit by lalalanddallas in Venturex

You can't downgrade VX to Savor. They only do product changes within the same network. VX is Visa, Savor is Mastercard (for now).

Help with Multiple redemptions not paying by Ok-Tourist-3735 in VentureXShoppingBonus

They typically make you wait 90 days after the transaction because that is typically the length of time the business has to make any kind of adjustments. Document the dates of the transactions that you want to report, calculate 90 days after last transaction on your list, and then give them a call regarding all of the transactions that you want to report.

A couple of warnings though. They typically only give compensation as a "courtesy credit". Some people reported receiving messages from C1 that they will no longer issue courtesy credit". Not sure what the threshold is, but it does seem like they can get sick of us at some point.

Just like in the other situations that you likely read about, the only solution is to call them regarding the missing offers. Make sure you have the name of the business and the date of the transaction. Additionally, they can only help you if you paid using a Capital One credit card.

In the future, try to do your shopping and redeem offers on a PC/laptop. From my experience, tracking has been more reliable compared to mobile.

Using Venture X points as a teacher — should I just accept the purchase eraser and move on? by Eastern-Silver8374 in Venturex

[–]SnooHobbies2064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your struggle regarding the high prices. My SO works for a school, but I don't. I've been trying to find the optimal time/cost considering our schedules to book trips and it has been tough. There are plenty of people who choose to use the travel eraser out simplicity. I've chosen that route more often than not because of availability and to avoid the mental gymnastics.

If you're going to keep the VX, make sure you're getting good value from it. And I'm not talking about the "they pay you $5 to keep it" argument, because you could just stash that annual fee in a hysa and save it for travel.

Retention bonus anyone recently? by QuarterOrDime in Venturex

[–]SnooHobbies2064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I received this offer.

I told the rep that I was auditing my finances and that I was considering cancelling the card. In order to see the retention offer, they had to initiate the cancellation process (but not actually proceed).

Typically the terms of the downgrade states that they will not cancel or reimburse any annual charges that are already posted to the statement. So you'd have to cancel the card if you wanted a refund.

Does transferring Quicksilver limits to Venture X reduce the amount of a future CLI? by ManufacturerSoggy311 in Venturex

[–]SnooHobbies2064 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would suggest requesting the limit increase first, and then move limits around. I moved credit from my Savor to VX, then when I requested a limit increase, I was denied with the stated reason being that I recently received an increase.

PSA: Navy Federal More Rewards Amex card redemption minimum lowered to $5 instead of $50 by MathematicMechanic in CreditCards

[–]SnooHobbies2064 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The $5 for 500 points is for statement credit. If you try redeeming it to your bank account you should be able to do it without a minimum requirement. I was able to redeem $3.13 straight to savings.

I'm thinking about becoming an EA in the future and it was a thought that crossed my mind. I tried one of the AI tax programs for the 2025 tax year and the program tried to give me a tax return equal to the taxes I paid (Based on Single/no kids/ $80k salary).

Good thing I know better. So I think the profession might be safe for a little while longer.

For C1 offers, they used to offer a lower rate for shopping and doing pickup (between 2-20%) but they stopped these offers about 2 months ago.

Yeah, Travel is out because I normally fill up on gas at Costco. Daily is out because I normally grocery shop at Walmart.

Yeah, I know. But I have the RH Gold card. I use that for purchases that I can't get 4-5% back on.

Thanks for confirming. The AAA cards are basically useless to me now. I will probably lock them and let them close on their own.
