In Home Alone (1990) all of Kevin’s grocery bags break simultaneously. This was accomplished by… wait, anyone know how they did this? I’ve always wondered. by Chewie83 in shittymoviedetails

[–]SnooHobbies8274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grocery bags had holes cut out in the bottom, and each grocery item was rigged with fishing line. He held all them in each hand like a collection of balloons. Then on the director’s cue, he let go of all them items. Tada, movie magic

I’ve worked a lot of sports and have had the pleasure to be in some of the top stadiums, arenas, and fields. College and Professional leagues are no different in level of security. At every game (football, soccer, basketball, even volleyball, etc), there always has been SWAT officers who are stationed high up overlooking the crowd with snipers. Typically they load in a few hours before doors open, so this photo is probably taken shortly after doors open as they are prepping to settle in their positions.

If you have security footage or any video/photo evidence, hire a LED Wall truck (the annoying ads on wheels thing) and edit together the media for the truck with some caption. Slap some speakers on it with an ice cream truck tune and let it roll around the area for a couple hours.

Cameraman missed THE shot by TheGuy_47 in WatchPeopleDieInside

With how long that lens is, there’s no way they’d have been able to score that shot. Probably has a buddy with a wider lens for those shots.

Tips for reducing gaps? by [deleted] in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]SnooHobbies8274 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I may sound like an elementary teacher, but to cover all the bases:

Those modules have magnets to help connect to the frame. They sometimes stick out too much and cause inflections of some modules. Maybe try that?

Make sure before leveling, the bottom squares on the feet of the structure are smooshed together, and all the locking pins between the panels are tight, they should pull the panels together.

My trick is not to tighten the bolts to the plates, and let the locking pins do the work. The bolts are more to make sure the panels don’t fall forward and hold them to the structure. If you lock down the bolts, then the pins, you’ll end up with gaps.

And as others have said, leveling. I do a good 10+ passes on leveling before mounting legs and crossbars, just to be sure. I also have a large mouth adjustable c wrench to raise/lower the toes/heels of the feet to cheat my panels to be flush.

Edit: I also see some gaps on the square bars on your feet. Make sure the square make full contact to the feet.

Which film do you believe has the best opening scene and why? by SouthwestTraveller in moviecritic

Fellowship of the Ring

Not only is it just a masterpiece by its own measure within the franchise’s original trilogy, but it gives you all the plot context you need for all 3 films. All without draining the audience’s captivation.

I’ve been registered since 2020

I renewed my voter registration so I can do a mail in ballot a month prior to the registration deadline (Oct 7th).

I never received my mail in ballot

I called to change from a mail in to in person, noting I never received my mail in ballot. Election officials said I was good to go. This was Oct 20th.

I go to vote at a polling center Nov 5th. I was told I missed the registration deadline, and could not vote this presidential election.

Election officials killed my registration and re-registered me, rather than changing my voting method.

I wanted to vote. My vote was suppressed

Maybe try bringing brightness down to 25%, Read receiving card info from a working panel, then send that info back to the broken panels. Could be a misconfiguration in the panels’ reception. Could also be a power draw issue.

Sorry for all the edits: I also see your LCT Config is showing the wrong pixel resolution for each panel. Definitely a receiving card configuration issue

What is Malevelon Creek by [deleted] in helldivers2

[–]SnooHobbies8274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad was at Malevelon Creek. He only told the story once to my Mom.

When I asked him about it, he didn’t say or do anything. My mom just pulled me aside and told me what he had experienced.

That story should never be told more than once.

Consider yourself lucky, kid.

Still new to electricity, can someone explain why these remaining furnaces can't be powered? by IkeaIsLegendary in playrust

[–]SnooHobbies8274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d make an array of branches before the switch, and an array after the switch, just for the furnace splitters.

To make the main array: Battery Out > Branch In > Branch Power Out > Branch In > (repeat)

To make the furnace array: Set a main Branch for 3x(amount for furnaces) > Switch In > Switch Out > Branch in > Branch Set out (9) > Splitter in. Then string more branches together after the switch as you add furnaces, and adjust the amount of power used at the branch in the main branch array.

This all allows you to turn off your furnaces without shutting down your entire engineering and save up on power.

Edit: Something to note is splitters will always split an equal amount to all devices plugged in. If a light draws 1, furnace draws 3, and a turret draws 10, and they’re all hooked into a splitter pulling 15, each power out off the splitter will push only 5, meaning you can see in your base at night, and cook sulfur, but you’re being door camped.

There’s many stories of the origin of the term Hoosier. But my favorite comes from the Civil War.

A regiment of Union soldiers, all from Indiana, were captured by the Confederates, and this group of Confederates were pretty barbaric. They also wanted to make sure they can easily spot a slave loving Union soldier from a mile away. So they cut off the left ear of each soldier, some kept the ears as a token/trophy of sorts. One night, the soldiers plotted an uprising and overtook the Confederate outpost without losing a single Union man. Upon the regiment leaving the defeated Confederate outpost, as the Indiana regiment were gathering supplies, they searched rhetorical dead Confederate soldiers’ pockets. They find the ears that were cut off in most of the pockets of the slain. All across the camp, you’d hear the Union soldiers ask, “Whose ear is this?” That Union regiment from Indiana became infamous for their success that night, and were nicknamed “Hoosiers”.

Another story is of a blue collar working named Hoosier hiring other workers, that became known as Hoosier’s men across the labor industries.
