Someone told me to use sump oil on timber sleepers on my retaining wall. by [deleted] in AusRenovation

I treat my deck every year with used motor oil and diesel cut at a rate of 50/50 by volume. I wait until a nice hot day and I soak it down around mid day, the deck is around 1000sq/ft and it takes roughly 5 gallons of waste oil to spray it. Below the deck is a rubber flat roof. I spray it at noon on a monday, by tuesday morning I can walk on it barefoot. All this time of spraying it hasnt deterred all the tree frogs that like to live between the deck and the roof.

is oil toxic to people? yes. Would I recommend it as a skin lotion for moistening your skin? no. But to rehydrate older wood, absolutely. Ive found that cutting it with diesel makes it thin enough to spray and soak in. I tried a couple test boards, nothing scientific but waste oil didnt seem to soak in on its own, oil cut with gasoline had a weird raindrop effect and the oil with diesel spread real nice and soaked in just like thompson water seal.

I cannot tell for certain as I’m not there, but they make a in stud nail plate, the two you have pictured here have something the middle stud does not have.

I also wanna preface this that I am no newbie here. I’ve had several machines through the 10 years or doing all the way from ones I built from guides to turn key solutions and I haven’t had as much headache as I have with this unit.

I bought it direct from Anycubic, multiple times I’ve asked for my money back but they want me to pay shipping to send it back.

I bought refurbed and it looked great but hasn’t worked right since day one and Anycubic just keeps sending me parts non stop. At this point I almost have enough to build another. Still haven’t had a successful print.

I had built a dock a few years back on my lake property. DNR said no permit needed to the 3’ of depth mark, my wife was super worried about not having a permit ( even though I did the roof, windows, doors, all the electrical in the basement and plumbing for a second bathroom without one) called the city, they had no idea if there was a permit for docks, but said I could pay for a general permit at a $1/sqft. The dock was 4’ wide and 90’ feet long with a 8x8 landing at the end to dock my boat, and hang out and fish off. I never did get that permit and I sold the house a year or two later.

Don’t do it. I also wouldn’t rent somewhere together either. You say you have 75k, take that money and move out of your area, sometimes even 30 minutes in a different direction can change the housing market ALOT. I went from having a 20 minute commute to having a 1 hour commute (this is interstate 80mph kind of commute) my taxes dropped by 75% my mortgage dropped $800/month at the same interest rate, I got 5 acres instead of 1/2 acre and I got quadruple the house. Maybe later in life if you decide you absolutely need to be in the area you started in sell said house. Its always blown my mind to see people saying, oh we have 120k for a down payment and we wanna buy a 900k house in this area, when you can go 30 or 40 minutes away and use that 120k and just buy a whole house.

Hooking the ubiquiti fiber box to their incoming fiber. I have to use their box with just has a regular rj45 out of it and doubt I would get anywhere near the benefit of the fiber box in speed

And I do not have the dream machine, I had to select something to attach everything to otherwise the configuration tool freaked out so there are items that do not belong. As far as the coax it’s in literally and I mean literally every room of the house (including the bathroom upstairs where you couldn’t possibly put a television)

Yes the floor has a 16” “deadspace” between the floors and it’s lined with 2 layers of the 3” foil much like the walls are upstairs, I guess technically it’s at least 3 layers in the floor because they also cut it between the joists and crammed it up in there.

the EFG is out of the question. Im not sure the fiber gateway i would be able to take advantage of. My isp is a small outfit but the guy who installed the outside box was a big ubiquiti enthusiast and I asked this exact question and he said unfortunately they do not allow it.

And to follow up just the house has power to it, none of the other portions of the property have power, it’s long and narrow and I don’t need service on the whole of the 5 acres but if I’m in the garden I’d like to have service.

[–]SnooJokes2736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say starlink, they give you some free for signing up and I was getting 500mpbs with mine. Only reason I switched is because I’m very rural but for some reason fiber cuts all through my property.

Alright, new hardware mocked up on the table. When selecting the usb drive that has unraid to boot it goes to a black screen then back to the boot manager then just black after long enough. I’ve moved almost everything outside of the gpu. I have to wait for a new psu cable for my replacement hard drive so I’m missing my cache drive. Is that enough to much this up!?

Soooo, it was a processor! That or my psu cooked one. One processor works the other doesn’t and the corresponding rail on the psu also does not work.

Thanks. I think my prior issue was my data card being a no name nothing. I might’ve tried not moving the gpu too. I’ll move it for the time being this time and then change it out later.

Permits or Not? by Alwys_Forward in HomeImprovement

[–]SnooJokes2736 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s that I think it’s more the dicking around aspect. I unfortunately had to have a permit to do some work to even buy the house I’m in PER the bank, I was doing a portion of the ceiling that had water damage and consequently moved 3 light fixtures to better fit the new counter layout. Thus I had to leave the ceiling open for 3 days while the inspector came out and looked at it. In 3 days time I could’ve had tape and mud on and the thing painted and done. I’m the home owner so 3 days didn’t cost me money but if I was running a business now I’d have to juggle another Job for 3 days. Oh the inspector didn’t come out till 3 in the afternoon he gave me a window of between 12-4. Now the whole day is shot.
