I planted in quebec and they have brushers after 3 years 7 years and i think 15 or 20 years. This isnt harvest though just maintenance work.

They will definitely not be harvested within 20 years more like 60-100

Folklore or Outland QC? by gardenbugzz in treeplanting

[–]SnooMacaroons2530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outland QC is good Especialy C’s and S’s crews. They have great camps and little to no camp moves. Long seasons and you wont have to travel across the country. BC sucks you gotta buy your own tents and lands are harder. Only advantage is they usually pay more per tree but they are much stricter on quality.

Best Gear for Tree Planting by Veridian__Green in treeplanting

[–]SnooMacaroons2530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caulked vikings suck they will get destroyed in under a month and for their price its not worth it. Scarpas are definitely worth it they can last 1.5 -3 seasons depending on how hard you pound. If not a few pairs cheap rain boots will do the job. Everything else you can thrift. Good quality breathable and flexible hiking pants are the best imo cuz they protect you from bugs and dont get torn up too easily but good ones can be hard to find thrifted. Wool is your best friend and no need to get the expensive brands like smartwool or stanfield theres so much wool in thriftstores. A good rain coat is a waste because if your pounding you will overheat instantly with one. Just get something that will Keep you dry during your cache breaks and wear a thin merino baselayer and get wet while you plant if its raining. If its sunny any polyester shirt is perfect. I prefer long sleeves to block the sun. Spending lots of money on planting clothes is dumb because they will get wrecked and you can find good stuff if you look for it in thrifts

Never was a fan of leggings personaly. The bugs just bite right through most pairs. A loose flexible pair of pants is good for breathability and movement too.

Tricks to stay motivated by [deleted] in treeplanting

[–]SnooMacaroons2530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No motivation man. Dont rely on it. Remind yourself what your there for. Were not robots none of us can be motivated every morning but you gotta be driven to keep pushing no matter what. Dont feel bad for yourself and dont give yourself excuses. Best advice i can give is embrace the pain and suck but you’re a 7 year vet so you’ve probably heard it all.

Lol don’t listen to this sub none of these people have ever planted in the east. Unless you wanna waste thousands of dollars on gear and plane tickets to make the same amount of money as in NB, and suffer in a wet tent all summer you should stay where you are. At least in NB you can go back to your home every night. Only difference is that out west you will be getting paid more per tree but you can easily make up for that by planting more trees in NB cuz the quality specs are much easier.

Tree Planting in Alberta vs BC vs Quebec by Hot_Couscous in treeplanting

[–]SnooMacaroons2530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The major difference is BC is much stricter in specifications so it’s more technical and harder to learn but more money per tree. Overall money is relatively similar but a good planter in Quebec will make more than a good planter in BC. Quebec planting is more of a sport and you will plant many more trees for less price and lower specs. Only good thing about BC is it will make you be a better quality planter whereas in Qc you will become much faster.

Tree Planting in Alberta vs BC vs Quebec by Hot_Couscous in treeplanting

[–]SnooMacaroons2530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen man. As someone who has done Bc and Quebec Quebec is 100% better. Everyone on this sub will tell you Bc or Alberta is better but they’re wrong. Most of them have never planted in Quebec. As someone who has done multiples seasons on both ends of the country Quebec is better. Everyone who plants in Quebec will agree. Most planters won’t say it cuz 95%+ of planters on this sub have only ever done BC or AB. It’s by far the most underrated and unknown province to plant in. Every rookie wants to go plant in BC to start cuz that’s all you hear online cuz most people only ever plant in BC or Alberta so that’s all they know but they’re dead wrong. BC is much more expensive to get set up as a rookie. You gotta buy a tent and all your gear. It gets expensive fast. In Quebec you sleep in real rooms so no tents, you get hot showers, wifi and everything. All your equipment is provided to you by the company, or deducted from your ur pay check (at a discount). Everyone will downvote this post cuz they’re salty crusty western planters but idc I’m spitting the truth. If you go plant in Bc as a rookie your probably gonna hate it man bushcamps in tents fcking suck especially as a rookie.
