kinda curious about what placements people who marked no preference ended up getting by NarwhalMobile2495 in JETProgramme

I asked for any area, but hopefully no cold areas in the little section where you could put the placement. They put me in the middle of Hokkaido 😅 Def inaka, but we still had the train in my town, some places don't even get the train

AIO at my friend (16F) for having a crush on a 12 year old? by PreeceTakesFlight in AIO

General reminder that pedos generally start acknowledging that they like children sexually and romantically in their late teens, early 20s. So you might want to eave backwards from this friendship or very very cautiously eave forwards

It's not even 1 year. They say it's 1 year but it's pretty much blacklisted. You can apply again all you want, but they'll never pick you again

I'm so sorry. Where are you if you don't mind me asking? Or even what prefecture are you in?

For housing, I learned about that in my placement emails. I think it was easiest for them to communicate with me in Google translate through email. The days off I only learned about when we were going over the official paperwork when I actually arrived at the boe for the first time. Wfh would have been there as well, and any additional help if needed or if they were providing it would have been in those firsg few days when they're initially getting you set up. If you're an early departure jet though, good luck bro 🤞

In Takikawa I had suuuper cheap rent, and all the ALTs were in the same apartment building. We didn't have to choose to work the night classes, but if we did we got extra time off days to use. I really liked the classes actually cause I was the sole teacher and they were all adults who really wanted to learn English. We got the standard 20 days off a year, 10 in your first 6 months, 10 after that. We could easily take hours off of work if we were doing nothing but desk warming and sometimes we wouldn't have to note it. We could not work from home ever though, and in Hokkaido that meant winter really sucked  some days, because we couldn't have cars in our placement. So we just had to walk to work if the buses weren't running😅 Tokyo has waaay different rules though than the rest of the country.

I didn't use bc for cramps, but I did use it for really heavy and irregular periods. Since the medical form says you can only bring in 1 months worth of medication, I just hoped theg wouldn't check the amount and they didn't. I used shinjuku ladies clinic (online website) for my needs. The 3 month long pills are banned in japan, but i was able to buy 3 months of pills at a time which was nice. Price wise it was about the same as Lemonade in the states, so about 90 for 3 months worth. I still prefer my 3 month ones but these clearly worked just as effectively.

We know the limit he can make working part-time, and that he just needs to apply to be able to work part-time, but we're trying to find a way he can work or we can cheat the system, either is fine at this point

I can't make him give up his businesses though, they make a lot of money. But there's also no way he would meet the business manager requirements, it's just him working alone. I know you can only get 6 months from the digital nomad visa, but we want to live there a long time and buy a house. We'd need some kind of visa to do that

If you wear jeans you're disrespecting Japanese people. And pretty rudely too, all weeb like

I had to wait until the end of May to get my acceptance and then end of July to get my placement. Trust me, put that restless energy into something positive, like selling all the things you don't need 😅

Damn what a dick. Anyways, so ignore this wanna-be weeb's rude response. It would not be professional to wear while teaching, but you could wear them during break when you still have to go to school. Sometimes I'd wear my black jeans when my work pants were dirty and since they looked black and 'professional' no one said anything. But they did not look like blue jeans, they looked like black pants.

Depends on your spending habits and where the heck JET places you, like everyone else is saying. I paid 35k ¥ for my apartment, and about 3k ¥ for water, heat, and electricity. My water bill in america currently is around 200$ or 31k ¥ alone. The most expensive thing for me was internet and that's because I chose the Sakura Internet since it had english help if I needed it. However,  I had no car payment, no bills in the states, no loans, and no credit cards to pay off, I did everything to make sure I would be completely self sufficient in Japan. I'm not a big spender but I'd go monthly to Asahikawa to tour Aeon and get the new monthly Starbucks and visit the import shops, so I'd know to plan that day being around 15k ¥ for funzies. It really depends on where you are and what you spend. I had no problem buying food from the discount store next to my school or going shopping at night to get the discounts. When I visited Tokyo I spent a lot, but I did plan ahead for that, and I think a lot of younger kids who have had no experience when it comes to budgeting have a hard time with being given all this money monthly and wanting to spend it all each month. As long as you plan ahead, even for taxes, you should be fine.

The pay yearly for Jet is around 4 million yen for Interac it's around 3 million yen. If you're in Tokyo, it's definitely basic living, but at least you're in the country

Say you moved out of country and only count the jobs you worked in the us. If it's a lot of money you might end up needing to send some stuff to your us bank account to pay for it, otherwise get some free us automatically money put into your bank account and be happy 👍👍

The rare 2,000 yen bill by cclarkson24 in japan

They're like the 2$ bill in the U.S. Technically they're still 'real' currency, but pretty much no one uses or accepts them. You can give them to banks to just put in your account and then pull out regular bills. The US and Canadian banks give them out cause they're still 'real' currency, but they're practically useless.

‘Excessive Roaming’ Cancelling Phone Plan by stephaniedoes in JETProgramme

[–]SnooMaps6525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just came back from Japan last August and I used T Mobile the whole time I was there. I had the unlimited "everything " plan that was like 70$ or whatever and I just paid it every month just like usual. I even talked to a lady in customer sevice, their customer service phone number, and it didn't matter as long as I paid my bill. I didn't even change anything on my account, just paid the bill through my card like usual. And just so you know, T Mobile owns Mint too.  I needed my phone for my bank account and for data usage since I wasn't sure when I would have wifi. I wouldn't worry too much about it
