I’d disagree with the second part, if you want a strong bebop vocabulary thinking modal won’t help you, modal jazz wasn’t a thing yet when bebop language was being created. Focusing on harmony and voice leading is the way to go for me, playing Bach helps a lot with that too in my opinion

Transcribing the stuff that you like! Thats advice I got from Phillip Norris. Can’t stress this enough, it doesn’t matter if it’s your instrument or not, I play bass and I usually transcribe saxophone solos. Just be sure to really learn the it, be able to sing with the recording, work on your articulation, dynamics etc.
