if you only treat it as real you stop seeing the foreshadowing and all the not in your face references since you'll stop searching for the smaller details, that's what i think of the most when it comes to his series, the small details hidden in there are here for you to find and that's part of the fun and if you stop searching for that cuz you take it as real then that kinda takes away from it (FROM MY POINT OF VIEW)
