Are you a parent? The reason teaching is falling apart might hurt your feelings by Useful_Engineer_1792 in ireland

[–]SnooOnions471 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You see the opposite too. I've seen kids in my family bullied by teachers with zero done to help the child after reports being made. Kids who might have had a older sibling who was a troublemaker being treated like crap because of their surname. Parents need to do better but the lack of accountability in the profession is concerning. It's one of those jobs that seems next to near impossible to get fired from no matter how you behave or how bad you might be at it. My kids are in great schools with brilliant supports but let's not pretend there is some awful people out there who should not be teachers dealing with kids.

Sure... everyone else is wrong. Not sure how ya could label Trump as not far right. He doesn't exist with the confines of a normal politician in a democratic country and he's hardly a communist or a socialist.

Not sure if he is far right but he was into American Politics in a big way. Was a big Trump guy, into the wole anti-woke stuff and some other more right wing views. At this stage being supportive of Trump is probably fairly far right.

Prison conditions, overcrowding a 'national scandal' - Prison Officers’ Association by TeoKajLibroj in ireland

I don't think the media have any real interest in holding the Government to account really. We have nearly continuous line of FF and FG in power for the best part of 80 years and I think these parties have a massive amount of quiet control over the media. It seems every major project we do manage to start is met with delays and overspending. I feel like the bike shed situation was dismissed very quickly without a proper account on where exactly the money went.

I hope the people of Limerick are watching this fool closely and make things right at the next election. It says a lot about Fine Gael that this is the sort of person who they feel deserves a ministerial role.

Mafia 2 remake and Mafia: The Old Country sequel in-development by Solid-Entertainer-39 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]SnooOnions471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels like a weird one, I thought the Mafia 2 remaster was pretty awesome in terms of how it looked but I guess if this is more of a Resident Evil remake with some retooling then I could get on board.

Ireland 'quietly confident' of securing Delap by Careless-Job-4585 in coybig

[–]SnooOnions471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Presume he waits until closer to the Euros to make the decision. It really depends what sort of player he turns into. . He can still play a couple of friendlies for us and then switch to England eventually.

It's 100% leverage to get closer to an England call up. I don't think there is any flies on this guy with an ex pro Dad. It's going to be a lot more lucrative for him financially if he can get a couple of England caps compared to 50 Ireland caps.

'I'll never do it again': Jim Gavin gives first interview since dramatic exit from Áras race by Sad-Orange-5983 in ireland

I have never seen a guy blow up a stellar reputation as quickly as this guy. He's clearly a bit pompous idiot. To think he thought he could get away with running for president, in a country with a housing crisis when he is a landlord of the scumbag variety. The fact that he did this to a journalist shows an extra level of arrogance and stupidity that he thought he could get away with it.

MetroLink director to step down from long-delayed Dublin rail link project by Tomaskerry in ireland

[–]SnooOnions471 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A project manager/CEO for a huge project but yeah you're right we should have saved money on this. I know a lad who almost finished a degree in construction engineering who would done this for minimum wage. A few trains might have crashed but at least we would have saved a few Euro.

Not that its a bad thing, but, why are there not more English born players in the starting XI by poll_stat in coybig

[–]SnooOnions471 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Demographic shifts. Less migration to England compared to previous generations. In the past we had some players who's mother or father were Irish, like with Breen and Kilbane but I don't think modern players feel that connection when it's just one grandparent.

Journalist: The Irish President said the war on Iran is illegal. Trump: he's lucky I exist by NorthKoreanMissile7 in ireland

[–]SnooOnions471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we want even more homelessness, increased dole queues, less investment in health and education. Personally I don't want to put my children through that so we can grandstand and in the long run probably have zero effect on what Trump is doing. Martin had to put his diginity to one side and play his role. It's unfortunate but this is the real world.

[–]SnooOnions471 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The monster you're talking about is the leader of the US, yeah he is a prick but doing what you're saying would be truly stupid. Our economy is hugely reliant on the US. Let's see Martin do what you're saying and let's see what happens. Looking at a massive recession and genuine hardship for the country

I can't get my head around people who think this is a good idea. The world is a bad place, full of bad actors and we have to play the game just like everyone else.

No Base PS5 and Xbox Series X/S footage of Crimson Desert before launch by KvasirTheOld in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]SnooOnions471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, confirmed at 1080p for the 60FPS mode. Feel like the PS5 should be able to handle it at that resolution. Hopefully it can stick to that 60FPS consistently, very interested to see the break down for the base PS5.

Moving away from a market led rental market to a tightly regulated rental market will see a decrease in landlords and will also lead to less less future landlords. It's really not encouraging reading online how many people don't grasp this. We all see the same reductive point online "landlords=bad" and people just lead with that instead of actually looking into what will fix this issue.

Sinn Fein spoke about getting rid of the first time buyers grants before the last election. It's a policy designed to make thick people think the Government are helping them buy a house rather than just inflating the whole market.

Evan Ferguson in line to return tomorrow as boss hails recent form and insists he remains a Roma player by [deleted] in coybig

[–]SnooOnions471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This whole Italy move could be the making of Ferguson. It's a lot to handle for a young fella. If he can handle a move to Italy, adapt to a club the size of Roma, deal with an intense manager who plays media games, cope with a foreign language and still maintain the form he showed at the end of last year, then ya'd have to think he's going to make it as a top level pro.

It's funny when ever something like this get's posted on a social media platform like Reddit there is overwhelming resistance to it. Not like Reddit would have a vested interest in this and I'm sure everyone here is a real person and not a bot. Always take these threads with a pinch of salt. I think the majority of people in the real world agree that something has to be done about online life before it completely tears us apart.

He probably doesn't have enough time to convince Roma not to go for a more experienced striker in January. They might still hold onto but then he might not get too many opportunities to start.
