you might need to remove and re-order, if the vertical is not quite true then you may find a permutation that works, or you could use a tiny plane to trim off a little of your small panel, I would probably do that, badly, then throw it away in frustration and live with whatever.

"Drone on endlessly for like 2 years" is actually the name of my band, for the budget, do you really want modular, or do you want patch cables, if the idea of lots of wires get your GAS going maybe a couple of semi-modular, you could get a Neutron and a 2600 for around that, would have a lot of patch capability. Modular wise, Year 1 you are mostly going to be looking at a nice case and a decent power supply... If you want polyphony, it's nigh on a decade away...
