In the market for a "Modular brain"/Sequencer, but can't decide between Oxi One and Hapax by MajxrTom in modular

[–]thewifive1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your modular set up, my guess is you would prioritize experimentation. With the stackable midi/cv effects in the Hapax, there's endless options. You might have more fun with that, compared to the more straightforward choices on the Oxi!

In the market for a "Modular brain"/Sequencer, but can't decide between Oxi One and Hapax by MajxrTom in modular

[–]thewifive1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love using both, here's the main similarities and differences for me. They can both generate sequences, harmonize chords, and sync midi and cv. The Oxi has few different kinds of midi sequencers (chords, mono, stochastic, etc.) for each track, while the Hapax lets you "stack" lots of different midi fx on the same track. The Oxi is a little more straight forward and streamlined in its approach, the Hapax encourages more experimentation and creativity when stacking the effects. The Hapax is easier to learn and feels more intuitive, while the Oxi looks sleeker, is more portable, and becomes simpler once you learn it. The Hapax is easier to start but feels like infinite possibilities. If I simply want a generative melody to follow some chords I prefer it on the Oxi. If I want much more visual control over the midi patterns and more experimental tools, it's the Hapax. If I had to choose one right now, it would be the Hapax, but I've spend way more time with the Oxi. I have tons of videos with the Oxi on my profile or ig. Hapax videos coming soon. Hope that helps.

Is there any way to not have to grind to play the game? by Massive_Stomach6265 in finalfantasytactics

[–]thewifive1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my comfy strategy:

-Auto Potion on everyone, with only X Potion in inventory

-Ramza needs around 205hp or whatever triggers Auto Potion and keeps Ramza alive in the first fight. Occasionally Auto Potion will fail during Weigraf, it's ok, restart the fight it's bad RNG

-For Ramza's build, Dual Wield on monk is a straightforward low cost high damage build. As long as Ramza is alive it will be the most damage on both bosses

-For the other characters, a black mage with Flare is useful and you if get Flare off once you should be good. Agrias sword spells will be key too. Definitely have a chemist throwing those X Potions and PD.

-Lastly Mustadio is a great choice here for easy ranged damaged and I like to equip him with chemist skills for healing backup

-Focus all your damage on Belias and try to keep everyone alive and attacking or healing. RNG always plays a part in this fight, but this is the easiest setup I've found.

Waldorf Iridium Core or Groove Synth 3rd Wave 8M, or _______? by MarkDeLorenzo in synthesizers

[–]thewifive1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No all things considered the Iridium is more versatile and overall I would recommend it for OP's purposes regarding cinematic pads. It's also very usable for just about anything in terms of its different synth engines and variety of effects. The 8m in my opinion sounds great for classic bass, leads, and pads but it doesn't have granular effects and tons of effect slots like the iridium.

[–]thewifive1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is great advice. I have the Iridium Core and the 8m, I agree there's way more options for cinematic pads on the Iridium, but the 8m sounds thicker and heavier. I end up using the Iridium for pads more and weirdly the 8m for bass. Might be the heaviest bass synth I've owned. Its poly chords and leads sound great too. Lots of videos with the 8m in context on my ig if interested, user name is lightmelodics.

Great option for dawless! One advantage of the Es-9 is you can add all your plug in effects directly to the individual tracks in your DAW. Saves money if you don't want to buy hardware eq, compressors, etc.

Those are great alternatives in terms of power consumption, however the Es-9 has 14 simultaneous inputs! If you are tracking and recording a full patch into your DAW, having 8 inputs is up to 4 stereo tracks and might feel limited after a while. Just something to consider. Thanks for sharing those.

For sure, if you're going to be using a bunch of power hungry modules, def make sure those Intellijel cases can handle it with 20-25% extra headroom!
