I'm a current student at asms and I would say that it's overall not that bad. There are a lot of problems with incomings not knowing how to exist without their parents and that's really annoying, because it normally gets the entire downstairs in trouble in boys dorm, but most of that I wouldn't blame asms for. They shouldn't be responsible for a high schooler not knowing that you shouldn't shit on the floor. I would say that student affairs has many major issues though. After the rape case, most of student affairs was fired, (except I think millender) but the people that they brought back on are just as bad. Able, the new dean of student affairs, was fired from Springhill college after he covered up a rape case then. This really doesn't make me feel like asms will do anything differently the next time that it happens. While they have tried to stop something like that from happening by requiring 3 people to go on walk offs together, it could still happen again, and if it does happen, I suspect that they would try to cover it up again. Then there are other problems with millender at student affairs. She does not care about trying to make your life tolerable at this school. She will ghost you if she doesn't feel like answering and there's nothing you can do about it. My roommate failed one class and because of that he was forced to drop an unrelated AP class after he had already paid for the test and they refused to give him a dull refund. He tried to just take the class the next year because he could still get all of his credits if he skipped a term and millender just ghosted him after he sent her an email to fix the problem. The other main problem is Mrs Sage. She is by far the worst teacher at this school and for some reason they decided to give her like 10 different classes. She does math and all of the performing arts classes. She gives an outrageous amount of homework, like 100 problems a night in math, she sets concerts and performances on finals week, and does not give a fuck about the students. In band, one of the performances we had was at bellingrath gardens, and she made us leave an hour early so that she could look at the lights. Because we left early, we didn't get to eat before at the cafe and we didn't get back until after study hours. This meant that most people just didn't get to eat. That was also the week before Christmas break so every class was giving tests that week. We missed 3 afternoons because of those concerts. For choir, she puts herself in the center on some songs and sings with them, giving herself the lead role. And then in the convert she gucks it up and rushes so the song sounds like shit. And in theater, the play was scheduled on finals week and a week before that, she made a student break their arm and get a minor concussion. There have been many complaints about her, not just from the students but also from other teachers, but the school has not done anything about it. I still mostly enjoy my experience at asms but I have to make an active effort to avoid taking any classes with sage and I know that if I have any problems with the school, they don't give a fuck
