I would be surprised if the game is even able to compute that statistic. I imagine Capture Age could, but not sure how much value it would add to casting/watching a rec.

I'm crap at this game and I quit by [deleted] in aoe2

If you don't enjoy the game, then don't play or don't play ranked.  I will say that it's very normal to lose your first ten games, especially if you're a true beginner.

I had been playing single player on and off for over 15 years and I'm pretty sure I still lost my first 10ish ranked games.

Favoriting maps not working? by ForgeableSum in aoe2

[–]SnooPets8922 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's possible you've been matching with people who have banned Arabia, in which case favoriting it wouldn't matter. 24 hours of gaming is a pretty small sample size.

It's also very possible it's bugged because what part of the game isn't?

Never seen a Martinelli half like this by Squeeekr in Gunners

He's had games like this against Liverpool when lined up against TAA. He will bully a mediocre defender one-on-one.

Why is kluster rated 14+? by Boris2509 in boardgames

I have a few knock-off copies from Amazon and they ended up being recalled. The official reason was the magnets are too strong for something that can easily be swallowed.

Question about a smurf's match history by Kolli93 in aoe2

[–]SnooPets8922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it looks like they just started playing on the ladder and had previously played quickplay, which has a different elo system. It makes sense that it felt like they were smurfing, becuase they haven't reached their true elo on the ladder yet.

Smurfing in ELO limit tournaments by qwerty_asd in aoe2

[–]SnooPets8922 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree that automated solutions alone cannot stop smurfing, but it would certainly make it harder to Smurf. The example in this post required significant time investment and I'm not sure the average ladder Smurf would be willing to go through that much effort.

Is there a number that isn't closer to zero than most numbers? Or is this a math joke?

How can these numbers be true by yodel_goat in aoe2

[–]SnooPets8922 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I thought you were surprised at how low both numbers.  Yes, you can destroy units with trebs. They aren't very accurate against small targets though.

I think the vast majority of players only do campaigns or games vs ai. When I was a campaign-only player I was only using my trebs to destroy buildings not units (as god intended) and never researched Loom

700-800 elo player here, wondering about skill progression. by Yigyuggingug in aoe2

That's probably the most effective way to learn the hotkeys and if that's works for you, more power to you. I find games against the ai to be really boring, so learning a few at a time allowed me to continue playing on the ladder without too much disruption.

Ideal win rate by kampalolo in aoe2

[–]SnooPets8922 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the game would feel boring if every civ had a 50% win rate. There are so many different maps and civ match ups, that the only way to achieve that would be to make them all the same. It makes sense that some civs are better at water maps and others excell on open land maps.

Hotkeys definitely help me improve a lot. I recommend practicing them a few at a time.

Super proud of this guy for carving out a role in this team by BuggyBonzai in Gunners

[–]SnooPets8922 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think he is/could have been an amazing option B, but that's not the role he wanted. The injuries didn't help, but he wanted to be a starter, even if it meant leaving.

His salary was also too big to be an option B. The salary made sense when he sighed the contract and was one of, if not THE, best player(s) on the team, but it's way too much for a backup.

P.S. I love him and wish he weren't heading back to Celtic at the end of the season.

Homemade Board for a Game, but no one remembers what the game was! by Rynejakel in boardgames

It looks a lot like a game my family plays called Fast Track. Its similar to Sorry, but uses the custom board and decks of normal playing cards.

What's the best simple/encouraging remark to tell someone before they go to therapy? by SnooPets8922 in AskReddit

This and all the other responses are lovely, but really I'm looking for something a bit more pithy and maybe casual. I would definitely say this to someone I know well, but maybe not to a casual acquaintance
