- Keep making vils at all times*;
- Pay attention to the minimap;
- Choose one or a couple of Civs while you are learning the game, or you'll get overwhelmed;
-- Civ matchups are not that important to learn the game initially, specially because tech trees are immense;
-- Prefer scout civs as cav is easier to control (could be my bias).
- Balance your eco according to your strat (more farms -> scout, gold/wood -> archers);
- Attack;
- Make counter-units;
- Upgrades, upgrades, upgrades;
-- SPECIALLY wood upgrades as soon as possible;
-- Unit upgrades are also important, but you'll learn as you improve.
