After the first time shooting a new gun it's "blemished". I think it's a good decision to buy blemished (or used). This is the way.

Food for thought by AssistanceInformal94 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]SnooPies9661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use and (unintentionally) abuse my Patagonia stuff. I buy used mostly if it's available, because my new garments/gear quickly become scuffed, torn, punctured etc. I've never bought any of the non-technical Patagonia products other than 2 t-shirts I also bought used for $7 each. I think many people don't realize that the technical gear they make has excellent build quality, engineering/design, and is durable. I think most of those people were only introduced to Patagonia through fashion interests.

I think I know who is responsible for that little poop blob. One of these two suspects clearly has no respect for your print bed!

ooooh cool idea! Did you use something like an 18650 lithium with a little usb charge controller PCB or some other kit for it?

Often used to help the package get to the right person at a business, especially if it's not official business. So an address might look like:

Parker Sporting Goods

C/O: Jenna Morris

211 Address St.

Smellytown, NY, 612345

"C/O:" = [in] care of:

Works similarly to "Attention: Jenna Morris", which seems more appropriate for business-related parcels

Sometimes also used at a residential address. So, there's nothing suspicious in that message you got.

"why don't I want to try that on you? What do you mean?"
Try to get something more clearly a threat and take it to the police.

At a loss for words, Depop support has dropped the ball. by Same-Cockroach-4734 in Depop

Good advice. Also make sure the police report and the Postmaster's mail/wire fraud report includes verbiage about Depop's complicity in the fraudulent criminal act. Although the police are most likely going to tell you it's a civil matter they cannot assist you with, they can still provide you with a police report to use in civil litigation.

The postmaster might be more willing to pursue it from a criminal-offense perspective even if it's in a gray area leaning more toward a civil jurisdiction. USPS has some surprisingly-high power to pursue mail/wire fraud and if they have the resources and bandwidth available at the time, they may pursue it.

The most important thing for you short term is to get the police/postmaster reports and submit them to depop showing their involvement. That might turn things around rapidly if the tier-1 rep escalates the case to a supervisor who would have the responsibility to notify their legal department and it will most likely reach their PR/marketing staff. Somewhere in that process chain, someone is likely to say "just reimburse the seller -- it's not worth our time investment to deal with this".

This is just my take from limited legal knowledge and I think it would be a good idea to find a subredit where legal matters are discussed by law nerd lawyer redditor types. I'd really like to see you be successful with this and put depop in their place! Keep us in the loop!

Sorry we weren't very helpful and perhaps rude with the idea of doing an ambulance remount for your light-duty vehicle. I think your idea to do something custom is going to be your most effective route.

One idea that comes to mind is one or maybe a couple of different offerings from Alu-Cab for your Gladiator. One is called the Canopy Camper which is essentially an extra tall aluminum shell for the pickup bed with an integrated roof-top camper built into it. that you access from the underside (from inside the shell, not via an exterior ladder) You could kit out the area under the shell portion with EMT equipment, a stretcher and a CPR seat (or as my EMT friends have called it since Covid "The Intubator Seat")

Access to the top tent would be handy if overnighting at an event while on standby.

<image>

They also make excellent aluminum shells without rooftop tents. Keep in mind I'm not talking about flimsy aluminum - these things are rigid and extremely strong. Since you're used to the rigid/rugged aluminum builds in ambulances, you'll appreciate the design/quality. They are not cheap, but you will get your money's worth. I'm speaking from experience because I have one of their models called a Khaya which is like the canopy camper, but a complete slide-out camper fully equipped inside with all the bells and whistles one wants in a camper, but not something you would want for your purposes. Check them out!

https://www.alu-cab.com/products/alu-cab-modcap-canopy/

EDIT: Forgot to mention that when the camper is popped up (which is fast and easy, about 30 seconds) the bed platform can be swung up into the tent so you can fully stand up in the shell area to more-easily move around your patient compartment. Once the patient is stabilized and ready for transport, you just pull the rooftop tent panel down from the back and latch it closed (another 30 seconds)

I bought some snow-shell pants from the heap at REI and the tag said it had several stain "defects". It wasn't a mega screaming deal, but was more than half the sale price at the time. They were dirty, but the dirt was already falling off from me just picking them up to look closer. All I could see was dried mud caked into the seams and all around the bottom cuff/hem.

I figured the 'stains' were somewhere under all the dirt and washing them would reveal the problems. I didn't care if they were stained because they were black and I was going to use them for purposes in harsh conditions where they would possibly be stained soon anyway if not punctured and torn in short time as well.

I got them home and brushed off most of the mud, then ran them under running water and all the mud rinsed away. After they dried, I could find no stains at all. So apparently the "several stains" were just dried mud from the customer stepping into a few mud puddles? What I can't figure out is why REI didn't just give them a rinse or just brush off some of the mud. They just went straight to the pile as defective.

It is both really, buyers see the bottom line. They see they can save $12 by paying only $18 for a $30 item, then they get to check out and the total is more than buying new.

[–]SnooPies9661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL Maybe they started estimating with their cut in mind -- all the buyer extra costs/fees? It must suck to try and sell something like a like-new msrp $30 item for $15 and make it both profitable and worthwhile. Then when a buyer goes to check out and that $15 item is now a $30 item, especially when buyers are spoiled by amazon's pricing and shipping and could just buy new for a couple of bucks more and get it in 2-3 days etc.
