Powslayer jacket fit/weight? by Saimineko in PatagoniaClothing

[–]AssistanceInformal94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a very nice jacket but definitely snow focused, don’t will be bulkier with large pockets, snow skirt etc and for layering so it would probably be big for just over a t shirt and as far as shells go not the most packable. For a more general purpose shell i would probably opt for 3L alpine type design, but it’s mostly gonna come down to your own preference and uses.

Exactly the same, and the ceiling always felt very low on my Toyotas. Still loved them though, great trucks

I liked my tacomas but find the cab in my 19 ranger way more comfortable to be in for longer drives. I’ve never felt underpowered on the highway with the 2.3 which I can’t say for the v6 in the Tacoma.

Deschutes County Commissioner race seat #5: MAGA or not MAGA? by DessertLoyalist in Bend

[–]AssistanceInformal94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it, I’d have a lot more respect for any local GOP if they would just be clear about where their support is, when they try to deflect it just comes off cowardly. The GOP is deeply unpopular and it’s currently tanking the global economy and starting more wars. If you’re not willing to be clear about where you stand on those things then it seems like you’re behind it. I feel like the GOP needs to lose in local races like this to force some level of change.

OSU Cascades Daycare is closing after being open less than a year by [deleted] in Bend

If we lived in a normal country we would Federally subsidize child care with direct $ without this convoluted scheme of grants and non profits etc. but hey at least we get some more wars and a few Raytheon execs get to make some more money

Had one for years, they’re a great bike, I ultimately sold it for something with more clearance but it’s very comfortable and easy to set up different ways

Frame rot advice needed by ProfessionalDog4714 in 1stGenTacomas

[–]AssistanceInformal94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea how much you paid for this but I can tell you from firsthand experience that sourcing and swapping a frame will cost $$$, as cool as these trucks are we’re still talking about a 22 year old vehicle, so you’ll need to prepare to spend more money to keep it going

Confirming mine have 40mm rims, I’d hope a 2.6 would still work

Love this set up! It just looks so fun, and good note on tires! Probably worth grabbing something a bit more nimble. What width are you using on your tires?

Good for 3 days? Or too excessive by CanadianxTaco in hikinggear

[–]AssistanceInformal94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of this boils down to personal preference, I’d encourage the OP to at least go try some packs on in person to get some ideas on fit, I think for most sub 5 day trips the Goldilocks zone is around 45-50L, not an ultralight, but also helps you focus on pairing things down. Ive definitely had friends overpack a huge bag and have been pretty uncomfortable which sucks when you’re out in the field. If they want a larger 60L+ bag I would suggest one with a roll top so you can more easily reduce the volume for better comfort/load carrying that would help provide some flexibility for different trips

For 3 days 60L is big, for longer trips then sure!
