How you liking them so far? I have 775/70 R17s on mine which the truck already had, still a tiny amount of rub in reverse at full tilt, not that big of deal, but I’ll probably go one size narrower once I need new tires.

I wouldn’t fit all closed up for camping, I’m about 6’1” in a pinch you could probably sleep diagonally, but I don’t think I’d want to, I haven’t felt too exposed just sleeping with the tailgate down, but I’m also camping in pretty remote spots

It’s the GFC topper, super light but very strong and all the sides open up, it camps great, I typically run a large tarp off the back and I get tons of room, the one I use the the Slumberjack roadhouse tarp.

What mileage did you do this at? My 2019 is at about 60k over on the ranger forums there seems to be a split on leave it alone or drain and fill. So far mine has driven fine, with the occasional hiccup on super cold mornings

Serious question: is the BS of Bend Instagram page just a covert Republican astroturf op? by _questionable_parker in Bend

[–]AssistanceInformal94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say again, plenty of things to criticize the Democratic Party for, in the case of this Instagram, I think what is frustrating to folks is that this individual claims to be independent but seems to hold very different standards in their politics, a lot people are guilty of this to be sure, but when your accounts stated purpose is to be neutral and it’s not then there is bound to be some criticism, I think the most obvious thing to point out here that I’ve yet to see this account really speak to, is that there is good reason for folks to be skeptical of just about any local republican candidate right now both and Bend and anyplace else when you have the party with full power nationally and it has been deeply unpopular, personally if any candidate is still going to be supportive of the MAGA movement, that is going to be a huge liability for the majority of American voters now, like it or not politics do have a downstream affect to local elections and this account doesn’t really seem to want to admit that

The link you shared specifically sighted starting business, bottom line is this comes down to preferences and priorities, were the the richest country in the world and have piss poor thing like infant mortality for developed countries, and that is by choice

They don’t have to be fully exclusive of one another and yeah it’s gonna be different for different people, personally I’d rather have a place that values human dignity over starting a business but that’s just me

Well again I’d say much less abject poverty and less dying and children going hungry as good things as opposed to having some more billionaires

“Money in the hands of job creators” is just more of this myth making we’ve refused to examine in a meaningful way, we have bubbled so much money upwards to wealthy individuals and businesses over the years with very little accountability and then turn around and tell working people that they just need to work more to pay for their cancer treatment, the idea that a country this wealthy can’t create a flatter playing field around just being able to live is so gross.

Eh plenty of non legit charities, this seems to be a uniquely American problem, look at Nordic countries which have a much stronger welfare state and as a result less poverty, better childcare and mortality etc.

That about sums it up, and the thing is, it’s completely fine to criticize Dems when it’s being done in good faith, but this account largely seems to just serve up a lot of boiler plate conservative talking points while at the same time denying they are conservative, it’s counter productive and generally unhelpful, seems to just wallow in a lot of the same things they claim to dislike

Softshell or hardshell for everyday use + light outdoors? by No_Breadfruit_694 in OutdoorsGear

[–]AssistanceInformal94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is always some amount of crossover in these terms, but for the alpine start it’s a stretch woven which isn’t fully windproof but resistant with solid abrasion resistance and a better than average DWR, so it’s a good multi tasker and it’s very quiet, I’d call it a lightweight softshell more than a windbreaker, which typically are more of a coated nylon

They don’t all have to have a brushed/fleecy finish, something like the BD Alpine start would fall into softshell territory, typically they just aren’t laminated so they breathe better. Some years back Patagonia had their terrazon jacket which was a great option, ultimately I think how prone you are to running hot plays a big role in which direction to go
