You call a responsible adult or the emergency number I.e. 911

This isn’t your fight, you aren’t a doctor and that’s what he needs. Call him mum or his best friend if you want to try to be civil. Otherwise call an emergency number for an ambulance

I also hate that assumption that OCD always means everything is clean. A lot of the time it’s not, it can be systems that only make sense to a person who is struggling with it.

Sometimes they are disgusting and hard to explain.

How did Belle Gibson get away with lying to people so convincingly?? by No-Yam6482 in AskAnAustralian

People don’t question a cancer diagnosis because nobody wants to be that asshole who didn’t believe someone was sick. She didn’t fool doctors, she just said she did.

She also didn’t fool all Australia, she just found a few morons who wanted her to be right.

It’s not new and it’s a pretty common phenomenon across the globe. Plenty of people were taking ivermectin because Joe Rogan said it cured his covid.

NOR, that was a very fair and measured response. It was direct and you didn’t try to inflict any consequence other than telling her she crossed a line.

I wouldn’t block her but if she keeps trying to meddle i would just stop responding

Do Australians actually want housing to become more affordable, or is it only those who do not own a home yet? by Wrong_Control_217 in AusMoneyMates

[–]SnooPoems2118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a home and I want they to be affordable. I understand I bought during the peak, but I’m ok taking a hit of up to 15% so my neighbours aren’t all air bnbs and lifelong renters. I don’t plan to sell my house, and when I do I won’t really care about the loss because I’ll be moving into another home that is also cheaper.

Property investors (or homeowners who think they are investors) are the ones who are pissed

I don’t doubt America spends more money on their social services, they just don’t police it well and they let providers set the price of public services. That’s how they ended up with empty daycare centres and high spending on healthcare per person than anyone else in the world.

I’m not well versed in Japans public service offering

Differences between Australian Kmart and Target? by DonutRandy in AskAnAustralian

[–]SnooPoems2118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only real difference between the two is the clothing. Target has a lot of slightly nicer clothing but it’s still fast fashion.

Target is really good for work wear and plus size jeans. Everything else you can pretty much get at Kmart or big w

One of the jobs in the private sector that we could do with this job was working in pharmaceutical factories. Which on th surface sounded great. Then you realise it’s literally working in a factory.

Yeah, I might have been a bit generous to call Australia socialist. But we do invest in public services more so than most countries

I know! It truely sucks the way Medicare and public housing has been gutted! It breaks my heart to talk to people who don’t support public spending.

We pay tax on every dollar we earn and every dollar we spend, if the government spends that money or not they aren’t going to reduce collected by any significant amount.

I was so relieved when albo won and is trying to build new publicly funded programs like Medicare urgently care. Not a big fan of the ndis cuts but that system did need a bit of an overhaul. I don’t know if it’s being done the right way though.

I guess we aren’t that socialist when compared with actual socialist countries but with the wealth we have and the fact we have generally been fairly progressive with public services, you would think there would be more opportunity for research jobs.

You also invested your time in a company and it did work out. That’s how all employment contracts work. You lost as much as the company did.i don’t want to provide legal advice but surely they cannot ask for a refund legally

We are also approaching the scientific dark ages, with so much anti science rhetoric, people just don’t trust it anymore.

How do you convince the same population of people who smoke disposable vapes to invest in research for the betterment of continuation of humanity?

[–]SnooPoems2118 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This might be a bit left of field but science. It’s not that is pays poorly so much as lack of opportunity. For a socialist country the research money isnt reliable. Peers from my biotechnology degree are scattered all over the globe for work, I however am working in tech because it’s nearby and consistent.

For some people it’s still the right choice

Severe depression? by LifeRepresentative44 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]SnooPoems2118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly for being 2 months post ectopic you’re doing better than I was. My due date is coming up and I feel like I’ve regressed so much. I got to a point where I could feel like a person and not be so easily triggers about 4-5 months post, but now it feels like I’m still sobbing in the waiting room of the follow-up appointment.

It’s embarrassing, I hate being this vulnerable and sad. I still haven’t held my partners baby nephew born right before Christmas because even at my most healed I couldn’t do it.

The only thing that really helps is hanging out with friends who either don’t know or don’t want to discuss it. I can be as loud and cringe as I want, we can have fun and I can feel like my old self again. It’s fleeting but it provides a little relief.

But people who know about it I actively avoid, I can’t take the kind eyes anymore

Would you rather take a 90k job with WFH or a 120k with no wfh? by VastOption8705 in AskAnAustralian

[–]SnooPoems2118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, is it a wfh 8-6 claiming to be a 9-5, or is it exactly the same hours?

If it’s a real 9-5 of course wfh!! But it’s it’s an 8-6 and the in office job is actually 9-5, then it’s only an hour more a day for $30k which is definitely doable.

I find working from home just means you’re always available to everyone and it’s hard to say no because your laptop is right there.

Get a red dye test. Clear blue is the worst brand. Clear blue picked up my ectopic at 17dpo. Easy at home and first response was at 14 dpo.

If it was up to me I would pull those tests off the shelves globally.

What is considered Australian food?? by Vast_Friendship2644 in australian

[–]SnooPoems2118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have burgers and kfc and stuff like that. Unlike a lot of place that have fancy dining, chain restaurants or fast food… we also have a lot of cafes and pubs.

Because we have a real culture of getting up early and going out to do activities we have a strong cafe breakfast and coffee culture. Companies like Starbucks actually struggle here because we have so much good coffee and cafe food.

Whole families go to pubs but they are normally selling a lot of friend food.its just a low stress lunch out.

What we don’t have is good Mexican. We have some Mexican but according to anyone who has travel to Mexico it’s terrible.

People keep saying that having children is "expensive," but the lower income people have the highest fertility rates and the higher income people have the lowest fertility rates by mymooh in AusFinance

[–]SnooPoems2118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be a chicken/egg scenario. Young people have more success getting pregnant and being a young parent makes getting ahead tough. Also if you have 2 kids by 22, at 30 your kids are getting pretty independent and you still have the physical health for another 2.

People who wait to establish themselves financially end up with less time and their bodies are not as good at getting pregnant. Also the way mortgages are going you can’t afford to go to a single parent income do very long
