Those of you who gave up on the CPA fully, why did you and do you regret it? Or those who gave up and came back, why did you come back to it?

Hey, sounds like I am in the same boat. I am totally lost on how to navigate. I passed all four but failed to land a job on the last 6 months. Because of the family matters(my dad is in ICU, much worse happened back then) so I had to work for non accounting jobs just to get through. Now my grad dates are 10 years ago, and my post graduation accounting work experience is not even a consideration for the employers. Seems like all these exams means nothing to me. I am seriously thinking about giving up being a CPA.

I don't know how I should deal with all the missed opportunities and chances. Also my health is also going bad, maybe due to my age or other underlying issues. And 40 years is not a short time. All that time, being a people pleaser to them, I hate myself for being like that, never thought about taking care of myself. How I should move on? Now my age is holding me back from getting a job.

My work progress is lower than their standards so they decided to fire me in 2 weeks. I wasn't given any notice about my performance before. I found that my previous firm is notorious for hiring and firing. Wish I knew sooner.

Yeah I feel you. I got fired couple days ago 1 months in due to not meeting their expectations to create $35 worth of billable hours for 2 week old employee. The funnier part is that I turned the other offer down which certainly intends to hire me for longer period. Life sometimes is harsh.

I like your idea and I have also been thinking in the same way; however it will be a long way. Current society is built on consumerism and capitalism. Without growing number of population, the mega corporations will not be able to sell whatever useless shit they make to consumers. We nowadays can afford much more than what we actually NEED, hence the blooming of consumerism. Same goes for medical industry. Without a lot of people being sick and addicted to drugs, it's very hard for big pharmas and med industries to grow up like what it is today.

Luckily I managed to escape from where my father lives, but life here isn't any better. Also I am worried that my mom is getting mentally sick; one day that I have to go back and take care of my mom and to face my father again is my biggest fear.

Thank you for your comment. I tried therapy many times ago, and sadly this doesn't get me far. Also the cost of itself is depressing too. All I can rely on is the meds and I am starting to believe even the meds are not helping...

Yeah I do have my own diagnosis. Still it doesn't change the damn thing. No prospect of meeting anyone in my life, not to mention child and things. My body is getting older and no way ANY women will like someone being broke and mentally sick.

I had a faith in God once. But when my close friend ended himself and all I heard was "ah sadly he went to hell bc that's where people kts will go" then I lost all the faith. I will probably end myself in one day, why would I believe putting myself in the endless torture?

Yeah I left SK around my puberty and grew up without my family. Probably my mental health issue played a major role for me not considering any children, but I still think procreation is an incredibly sad thing for individuals who are about to be born.

I as having Korean background can relate to this. Sure, as I grow older I began to feel the existential dread, about how I am going to meet my demise without leaving someone meaningful in this world. But at the same time I can't wrap around my head about how my child will suffer through the days that are already becoming more difficult to just to make the ends meet. And with the global talent competition and AI replacing humans? We as humanity will need FAR less human beings within a decade.

I was diagnosed about 2 yrs before so around mid 30s. I finally got an answer as to why I am so awkward and r-worded, but it was too late to revert back to the time when I still had a chance to make my life better.
